It may not be official church doctrine, but who would be our patron saint?

The best I could come up with is this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anastasia_the_Patrician

There are a few that I ask to pray for me for other things, namely St Maximilian Kolbe, St Joseph, St Jude, St Monica and of course St Clare of Assisi (patron saint of television, since I work in the industry). It would be nice to ask a saint to pray for me for God's guidance in trans issues.

That is such an interesting read, thanks for sharing it.
"The soul is beyond male and female as it is beyond life and death."

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

Chevalier D'eon is an anime based on him. It's beautiful and quite gripping. they changed the story somewhat in that, his sister was murdered but her soul uses his body to get revenge. It's the only anime I keep on my tablet.

I always had a great fondness for Joan of Arc and I keep a religious medal honouring her in my shoulder bag when I go out anywhere.  The back of the medal reads: -

St. Joan of Arc give
me the courage and the
fortitude to defeat my
fears and give me the
strength to fight for
what I believe in.

Not a bad sort of prayer for a retired trans-gender social worker to offer up.
