First, a little history. I came out to my now ex-wife as a cross-dresser in 2004. I spent some time, withe her, at a local gender center involved with a support group focused on that. Well that did not go anywhere. At the time, I used the name Marilyn, (derived from my second favorite rock star.. coincidentally my first favorite also has a female name... huh weird, anyway I digress), Some time after that, we were watching an episode of Jerry about transsexuals and they all used these crazy, over the top diva names. No example comes to mind, but the ex said why don't one of them just pull up their big girl panties and say "Hi, I'm Pansy"! Well, I spit my beer all over the coffee table and carpet and died laughing! I adopted the name immediately and used it for my alter ego ever since, even going so far as to tattoo my inner lower lip with the word.

Now, 11 years later, I feel this is more than cross dressing for sure, I present female 100% of the time and have not gotten over the name or pronoun hump. Gender therapy begins this Thursday, I'm out at work to everyone that matters and have a couple questions for you ladies.

   1. Do you consider my name offensive in our community, this plagues me constantly.
   2. Is it just me or should I try to drop it because of it's origins and move into tomorrow fresh, mind you I am accustomed to it my now.
   3. As not very passable, can this name even be taken seriously by ANYONE?

That's probably not all, I'll probably think of something during my insomnia...lol. Thanx for all the support all of you have given so far and for readin my ramblings again!

Hi Pansy,

I associate it first as a flower and secondly when spoken as a derogatory term ( I would never use the term other than as a flower). I have been called a pansy and it was negatively used. I think because I am a quiet, mild and respectful person.

Thanx Cynthia!
This is good stuff... and CRAP! LOL, I asked my mom what my name would have been if I were born female, and she replied, "Pamela, your dad's ex girlfriends name, I had no choice."
Just thought I'd share, that's REALLY funny and very coincidental.
