Wide shoulders are the reason I wish I could lose weight. For me, when I gain or lose weight, it often comes/goes on or off the shoulders. I do therefore think that losing weight could help reduce wide shoulders in certain people.

Something else that helps is to avoid vitamin D and sun exposure. Dozens of observations taught me that excessive sun exposure widens shoulders, and I have seen many cis women with shoulders wider than their hips after getting too much sun.

What this means is that late winter (when vitamin D levels are likely to be lower) is perhaps the best time to lose weight for shoulder reduction. Now if only I could take my own advice. ;)

Never underestimate the power of estradiol or the people who have it.

I've found that A-line dresses consistently look good on me, because they draw the eye down. And I love empire and ruched waists. :)

I also go for V neck or cowl neck tops, and avoid cap sleeves like the plague...

Do you have any scientific articles or anything else to support this claim about vitamin D? It hurts my brain trying to connect the fat deposition at shoulders and vitamin D.

I also find the vitamin D bit a slight shock... Not that I spend a lot of time in the Sun anymore (skin damage), however my D levels have always been good due to Supplements (for other reasons)... At least I'll never get "Ricketts disease"....

May go and research that

We'll just say that I still have bigger, wider shoulders than most men do.  I don't bare them in public, mind you, but the way I dress you wouldn't ever know.

I also draw attention to my better features.

And yes, I haven't been sir'd or called transphobic slurs in public since last May.

I just got back from a jog today along the beach and I saw this woman with her family and she had massive shoulders.  I know it is a bit mean and shallow but it gave me hope LOL

Personally I feel this is true of a lot of things where trans-folk go "but OMG my x is so freaky McWeird". Where x is whatever bit of your body bothers you the most. I have very wide shoulders I pass, at least I pass well enough that people are willing to humour me and why on Earth should I waste energy worrying about anything more than that?

Well that was fun! What's next?

Um, 17 inch shoulders are not I any way massive. Mine are 17 and they don't look wide at all. I think it's more about balance with your hips.
