My name is Katherine, but I've always gone by Kate.  My user name here is Katie, and I actually like Katie better and it goes better with my last name.  But I've always thought it seems like a little girl's name.  Yes, Katie Couric, Katie Holmes, etc.  It still seems young.  I'm 37 and work as a finance executive.  My personality is not very serious, but my life is in a lot of ways.

What do you all think?  Can I pull off Katie, or should I stick with Kate?  :)

Kate at work.  Katie to friends and family. ...

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

Jen, that's good advice.  And it's kind of what I've been leaning towards.

Love Katie, Katie, but maybe it's Kate or Katherine at work...

I picked Katrina, many, many years ago, but loved the simplicity of Katy, rather than Kat for me... In formal occasions I would definately use Katrina....  By the way the initials of my Birth name and Katy are the same... So signatures don't change when I get it all together  ::)

Hey Kate :)

(I'm not Kate but I just play one on TV.)

I think you can use Katherine for more formal stuff and abbreviate it to Kate. Just my opinion.

I picked Renee but it kinda doesn't fit. My mom suggested Rhea and I like it. It's appropriate for my national origin too. However to me it sounds like a little girls name. All names sound like that. It's so hard to choose one... Ugh.

The only Rhea I've ever known was my friend's mother, so it definitely doesn't sound like a little girl to me.

I think the little kid issue is the same for a lot of names that end in -y or -ie.  Danny, Mikey, Katie, etc.

Good point Katie, about the about the "y" or "ie" at the end of the abbreviated name.... But hey we are reborn

Yes. You can pull it off.

Look, most people do not choose their names or nicknames. We get to.

Pick a name you like hearing because you will hear it a lot.
