More of a curiosity than anything, but I was wondering...

When you guys dream, what is your gender?
Cuz my gender is all over the place. Sometimes I'm a girl, sometimes I'm a guy, sometimes I'm agender or I'm aware that I'm trans. I get frustrated at those dreams because I'm still forced to be a girl, haha.

So what gender do you dream in? If you remember your dreams at all...
Feel free to share any dreams that explored gender, just keep it SFW if you can.
Living a lie... it festers inside you, like poison. You have to fight for what's in your heart.

Usually, I just have genderless dreams. I'm just me. I've had a couple where I was still a female and those were really uncomfortable. When the dream is sexual in nature, I'm a guy. Those are frustrating, because the physical impotence I have in my waking days carries over into the dream.

My guess is that most people, both xy guys and those of us who are F to Ms, have varying gender situations. I've read that many xy men have man on man fantasies, but don't know if that is true. At anyrate, dreams are cryptic and symbolic, so i wouldn't let any gender changing in your dreams bother you.

I'm always trans in my dreams and I hate it, just want to be free for once  ::)

In my dreams, I am always looking out at what is happening. Gender doesn't figure into it, but staying as completely not "in your face" as I possibly could, which meant effacing myself even in my dreams was.

This is interesting. I tend to dream in the first person, and I don't know that there has ever been anything discernibly gendered about what little bits of my body I do see (hands/legs).

I think we tend to incorporate things we are dealing with in our dreams. No matter how good the surgeon or how long you've been in the 'right" body, there is the realization that some people, if they knew, would not consider us true men or women. If that is something that bothers you from time to time, it could come through in your dreams.

my dreams are all over the place too, i have dreams where im a dude, some where im still a gurl, others where im agender, alot of it has to do with what im dreaming about and what time im dreaming about, what the dream is processing.
I am rehearsing for a role, and the role is my life.

Mainly I'm male in my dreams and I have had dreams where I am aware that I am trans as well. But I've also had dreams where I'm not focusing on gender at all, I'm just me- if that makes sense.

I'm just... me in my dreams.  Wherever I'm at in my life that's who I am in my dreams.  So I've mostly been an FtM in transition in my dreams lately.  A lot of them are about me trying to use the men's washrooms without tipping anyone off and trying to get my STP to work  ::) And they're always 3rd person.

in my dreams, gender usually never comes up, only when it seems important to the proceedings.  I had one not too long ago where I was male, and I only knew that because me being male was important to what was going on.  I was at my dad and stepmom's, where this new girl was living.  She wasn't related to me in any way, and we were kind of hitting it off, and we were going to hook up in her room after everyone went to sleep.  Things go wrong, however, and I end up hiding in her closet, meanwhile, i'm reading her diary, where she calls herself Daria.  At this point, the symbolism seems obvious.  A male me was hiding in a symbolic female me's closet from the people in my life least likely to accept me as a transgender female.

That's the only time gender comes up or seems important, though, is when it actually contributes to the dream itself.

I barely ever remember my dreams, but when I do they're typically in first person, so I just don't know. However, the other day I had a really weird dream when I saw an old female acquaintance of mine who had a beard and stuff (from what I know of that person, she's definitely not gender nonconforming), and so we talked and she told me that she'd transitioned and asked if I had yet. Based off of that comment, I would think I was female trying to present male? My dreams never make sense even when I remember them anyways, so I never put much thought into them.
I'm trying to be somebody, I'm not trying to be somebody else.

I dream almost exclusively in the first person, so my gender doesn't tend to be a factor -- I'm just me, so I assume I'm male in most of my dreams. However, every now and then I'll have a trans-related anxiety dream (getting outed/humiliated in public or something along those lines).

I'm usually female, in a world that's out to destroy me. Zombies, apocalyptic scenarios, etc. I interpret it as the world around me trying to destroy me for being who I really am, but meh. :P
To strive to reach the apex of evolution is folly, for to achieve the pinnacle is to birth a god.

When the Stryker fires, all turn to dust in its wake.

I frequently have dreams of having male parts (they even function, and TMI, I wake up feeling like I have an erection)!

And sometimes, I'm just female. It's really bizarre to me.

Maybe part of what gender you are in your dreams depends on if what you are dreaming about has to do with before you transitioned and after. Dreams are so cryptic anyway. Like you, I've awoken to what feels like an erection. Glad you said that, I thought maybe it was just me.

I have a lot of night mares where my hair is long again and I can't cut it. Terrible. I mostly have nightmares, and I know that I'm trans. I have only once had a dream where I was completely male, and didn't even think of transness. The feeling was indescribable.

synesthetic

I'm like you, it can vary. usually I'm not aware of gender in dreams, but lately I've been having more and more dreams centering around being trans. always on my mind, I guess haha
