Hi All!

I'm just wondering if anyone out there has had any strange reactions to laser removal?

I'm four treatments in on my face, and this last time when I had it done, my face had swollen up a few hours later.
The redness and splotchiness were entirely gone after a day or two, which is about the normal for me, but the swelling took 3-4 days to entirely go away.

I went back and got checked out by the operator, who is also an RN, the day it happened, and she didn't seem concerned, nor was my doctor really when I saw him a few days later. They both told me that is happens, although rarely, and it was fine and no reason to stop.

I have total faith in both of them, for sure, but I just I'd put it out there to see if any other has had any similar experiences at all.

Other than this little hiccup, it seems to be working really well, which needless to say, makes me super happy!

Thanks everyone for your time,

Giselle Marie

Yes it happened a few times with me.

I had the cool glide laser treatments done back in 03-04.

Just ice first 24 hrs seems to help.

You have to remember you are getting burn areas that are the hairs under the skin.

Not much fun.

Same here, I feel like just crawling under the blankets for a week after laser.
It looks gross, all puffy and dark thick hairs that cannot be shaved (stays just as black after shaving).
Previously,  I used to just go on, doing only male mode until its cleared, buuuut, I have since gone fulltime,  and I now have my next laser session tomorrow morning. ..

Thanks, Mrs Izzy and Lexi for the reply!

Like I said, I have total faith in the person who is doing it (she's really fantastic), but I figured it never hurts to triple check.
I'm just going to take it as another little quirk of my own transition experience then, plan accordingly and keep moving!

Thank you both, again.

First ya I know little older post but didn't see too much on funky reactions post laser treatment.

Anyway I happen to breakout with acne a bit the day after. Now I think I know why is I do have oily skin (hope one thing that goes with hrt:)) and I think the laser having burnt the hair also draws oils up. This could cause some extra redness/swelling or even acne for some just a thought as to cause. Guess next time I get er done make darn sure my face is extra clean pre treatment might help after all I know its gross but the oil in the skin would heat up a larger area then normal area and fry your skin a bit.

Any tricks would be welcome other then what I can think of really clean face pre treatment and makes me scared for electrolysis if I can get it even. Harder to get were I live and wondering if the oily skin maybe I should wait till I am on hrt let skin clear a bit then finish it off so to speak.

Fyi ya still pre everything really on the wait for hrt but done 3rd treatment not sure if I will do another till after I start hrt or do more. I think I can live with the pain but burning spots that later become clogged skin oozing icky stuff no thanks if ya can follow why hesitant to do it now well completely etc.

This might help someone with oily skin to be less painful / harmful to skin not saying its a walk in the park anyway but might as well make the walk more bareable:)
