34 Countries in Europe Make This Nightmare a Reality

What is the video about?

For most trans people in Europe, it is either impossible or very difficult and humiliating to get a passport or other identity documents with their correct name and gender. In fact, 34 countries in Europe still do not allow a trans person to change their name and registered gender without invasive and abusive requirements that violate their human rights.

3 of the worst requirements are:

Being forced to undergo sterilisation and other medical interventions
Being forced to get a divorce (if married)
Having to receive a diagnosis of mental illness, despite not being mentally ill, or a "psychological opinion"

Caimpain video: p.s. this video can be triggering to watch.

Poster comments :

TGEU made a campain for better right agenst unfair requirement to change name or gender ID in Europa.
In many European country there are no law or option for transgender to change ID or name. In other countries a mentall dignose, sterilization or divorce is regured to change ones ID. some countries do not require these for ID purpose but still require it for threatment such as homones.

I Live in Denmark so I don't live in any of the countries the video here are focusing on.

The video focus on countries where those requirement (mental dignose, sterilization or divorce) are made based on names or ID and in my country this requirements are based on threatment such as homones. Yet I can deeply relate, its still feels very much the same and its very recently the law changed here in september 2014 which banned sterlizilation requirement for ID.

There are various things you can do just click on the link I posted to there homepage, there you are giving various options on how you can support the project. I think sharing the knowlegde or donate is great. The sharing part is also very important I belive because many people even in those countries which are invold are very ignorant about the rules taking place.
