Indigenous gay and transgender people call for support and acceptance ahead of Mardi Grasby Allan Clarke, via

Rosalina Curtis knows the pain of growing up feeling different. Ms Curtis is a "sistergirl", a transgender Indigenous person, and was raised in the remote Aboriginal community of Morris Soak in the Central Desert, Northern Territory.
"I knew that I was different at a very young age from other people, I knew that inside of me was a girl but I was born differently, my mind thought like a girl," she said.
"I hid it away too from my family and friends, but when I did come out it was for my mum."
While Ms Curtis eventually found support from her mother, the majority of sistergirls do not experience the same acceptance from family and community.
This story was broadcast on the Sydney local news last night, and presumably in other Australian states. Rosalina seems like a very inspirational lady!
