I am a person of East Asian descent. My parents, although their English is ok isn't particularly great and certainly their vocabulary not extensive enough to understand complex medical and biological topics. Likewise my command of my parents' language is only simple conversational at best. Both my parents are very traditionally conservative and have strong beliefs within typical Asian family relationships. I avoid speaking to either of them in English out of filial piety.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation where they have had to try and come out to their parents from a non-western culture and or where there was a such a language barrier that prevented them explaining gender identity and the differences to that of sexual orientation?
