Wow. $600 for a blood test?

As I mentioned earlier, Jacqueline, I see an endocrinologist here in San Diego. I live all the way down here though so I don't ever have to travel far when seeing him. His name is Dr Jeffrey Sandler and his clinic is situated in Hillcrest, San Diego, LGBT capital of San Diego city (52% of the population have reported being LGBT), so Dr. Sandler definitely caters to a lot of trans people like ourselves. He even stated that I would end up being a "cutie" once the hormones have had the chance to work their magic, so he is definitely trans friendly.

He only charged me $130 for my first visit and then I paid $60 for my blood test at a separate facility. So it wound up being only $190. Plan on seeing him every three months. Pretty cheap alternative to drive down here if you don't want to end up paying $600 for a doctor in LA. Good luck, girl!

I know this post is a few months old and I may not get a reply but I figured I'd try anyways. So I'm planning on seeing Dr. Sandler down in San Diego (even though it's like 3 hours away from where I live) and was wondering if your insurance helped pay for your first visit and blood test or if you were only charged $190 because you were paying out of pocket. I'm asking this because Dr. Sandler doesn't accept my insurance (regular Medi-Cal), so I'm basically going to have to pay out of pocket and when I called to see how much he would charge I was told by one of the people at the front desk that it would be around $380 for the first visit (not including the blood test). If you could please give me any info on how it was that you were only charged $190 for the visit + blood test and which facility it was that you got your blood work done that would be very helpful. Thank you
