While I understand and relate to the sentiments about how MtFs may be treated in society and how that affects self-acceptance, decision to transition etc, I don't think that simple comparison between MtFs and FtMs is always valid, especially in different cultural contexts.

For example, here in India, MtFs who cannot afford any medical help and have no acceptance from family etc typically run away from home and live in their own well-organized communities. They might live on the fringes of society and may have no choice but to beg, sing and dance in small events, or engage in prostitution to survive, but they are at least visible and well-organized, and are now beginning to get some legal rights.
Compared to that, FtMs who cannot afford medical help and do not have acceptance from family have a much harder time. The experience of being female-bodied is not a good one in patriarchal societies even for cis females, but for lesbians and FtMs there is an added risk that their own families might try to 'set them right' in the most horrendous ways, even before any of the risks they may face in the rest of the world.

If one looks at those with medical help and some level of acceptance from people around them, though, then the same trends that are visible in the west may apply here too.
