How long should I wait for my Microderm treatment after facial LHR?

Hey everyone!

So I have my first Laser hair removal scheduled on April 8th.  I was wondering how soon I could do my microderm?  I know its probably best to ask my aesthetician but I'm kinda embarrassed about it.  I was planning on possibly setting it between the 13th, 14th, or 15th of April.  Any thoughts?  Thanks!

Hi Autumnleaf!

I actually do microdermabrasion and a light chemical peel between my LHR treatments.

I've done a lot of research and the general consensus is to wait at least 10 days. Some even say two weeks, some four weeks.  I've had three microderm sessions already that were spaced in between my LHR. My LHR sessions are roughly 5 weeks apart.

You need to give your facial skin time to heal before you go about seeking the other treatment since I'm sure you do not want to damage your skin.

This whole time in between actually depends on the strength setting of the laser as well as the strength of the suction they set the microdermabrasion machine at, so it would be best to ask the techs/doctor (at both) to see how long you should wait.

No need to be embarrassed about asking them about it. If necessary, just say you want to get rid of acne scars (when asking the LHR tech) or say that it'll just be easier for you to clean shave every day for work (when asking your doc after microderm).

I was embarrassed during my first appointments too but I soon realized that there was absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. I walk in there like a BOSS every time  :)

Walk in there like a boss with your head held high and ask them about the waiting time between sessions. You can do it.

Hi TDawesome!

Wow, thank you for the detailed reply!  Now I'm kinda worried because I set up on the 15th of April.  That's only 7 days after getting LHR.  Since it's so hard to get an appointment with this aesthetician, I was hoping that you normally heal pretty quickly after LHR.  Oh well, I think I'll set up it maybe two weeks later.

Also, I was wondering if you can do the microderm and the chemical peel at the same time or if they also need to be spaced apart.  Now that I'm getting all this stuff done, it's like I can't wait.

I'll definitely take your advice to heart when I go in for my laser treatment.

Thank you! :D

microderm is nothing...should be fine if laser is anything comparable to electrolysis

Yeah it really is. I enjoy the feeling of it. The dermatologist says that it hurts and stings for some people, have no idea why because it feels like a face massage to me.

It's all up to you and it depends on how your skin is affected by both the microderm and LHR which is why asking the tech and a derm is the best way to go about this.

And yes you can. I do a light chemical peel (light so you don't look like a strawberry afterwards) immediately after the microdermabrasion session all in one go in my dermatologist's office during my lunch hour.

Have fun with your first LHR and microderm sessions!
