Heya! So, I have a question, I am currently on HRT taking pills orally. I had read up a lot on the hormone pellet implant method and its advantages. I was interested in going that route, also partially because I find needing to take pills multiple times a day a little dysphoria triggering :-/. Anyway, my issue is that I haven't been able to find anyone in my area who does HRT implants for trans people. Any NYC ladies using this method/know of an endo who does it?

Well looking for a specialist who has experience and travelling there might be the best option...

another option: the pellets are made by compounding pharmacies. If contacted, maybe they could give you the adresses of some endos or gyns in your area who work with their products.

Or you could look up who works with pellets for menopause, for example.
The general idea is to get a significantly higher dose than for menopause women, combined with bioidentical progesterone, either as pellet, too, or as topical gel...
according to other posts, if the dose is high enough anti androgens might not be necessary... you might look them up, and take this to the endo or gyn...

Another option might be contacting lgbt centers, and asking there...

but as said imo the first option is the best...

How long have you been on HRT? I've been looking into implants myself for after my hysterectomy, but most doctors won't put them in before you've been on HRT for at least a year from what I've found.

Interesting. Good to know. I've been taking Estrogen only in pill form for 3 months (see previous post about switching endos :-P), and now have added Spiro in. Though I have an appt in a week and a half. I'm hoping to switch to injections then.

The advantage of pellets is a very steady release. And no further hassle like taking something regularly. Some even say they do not need anti androgens, if used with bioidentical progesterone ( topical or pellets are possible. Some do not take progesterone pellets as well as estrogen ones, concerning implantation ).

If you use injections you might think about weekly instead of biweekly...
and you might ask about topical... maybe for the time when the effects of injections recede...
in general topical might give a bit less effects than injections...

imo pellets have a lot of advantages...

for ftm like the previous poster its more easy because pellets are more common.
As said, you could look up what other mtf people said concerning amounts of pellets, and talk to it with a medical person...
especially if there are intolerances or explained disadvantages of other methods they might agree...

without endorsing anyone you could have a look at Lynn's Place for example, there are some Transgender Medical Resources listed there in your area (some links to websites there are outdated, you could do a little research on each candidate).
