There are different methods... most important is to never overstrain your voice... just stop...
it takes practice and imo most important consistency... a few minutes every day, maybe even less than a few minutes in the beginning,  for a few months...

don't raise your voice too high in the beginning...
its like raising your voice and moving it from your chest to your head...
you can lay a hand on your chest and feel the vibrations there... they should go down...

after some practice, like reading something in a higher voice, its like a click and you are in a higher register...
you could work from there...

females have much more intonation, voice going up and down much more...
and females use more indirect language... like would you....

I'd say just take your time... and practise... it really takes time...

but many others have succeeded, you can do it, too :)

Some people consult voice trainers, either in the beginning or after some practise...

I watched youtube videos of woman talking and keyed in on the indirect language Laura posted.  I had the voice tone down as I never had a male's voice, it was the inflection, or as my boyfriend calls it, the female accent.  As I listen to a few of my trans woman friends who are really close to me, I find they have a better time passing with the feminine voice inflection than trying to micky mouse their voice up into being high pitched.
