Hi Janae;
When I transition the first time, I was working for a large global IT Company, and taking the opportunity that being made redundant, I decided to transition to full time and went through changing my name and over about 6 weeks I gradually stopped wearing male clothes and moved to a full time female role. I then went back to college (an at the then suggestion of the NHS GIC Clinic in Hammersmith who recommended that I try to find a typically female role in my life. You have to remember that 30 years ago, they had a definitive position that onlwe should only be sort of ultra feminine and bee looking for more "submissive" female roles. They recommended I should go into office work or fashion retailing). In fact I enrolled in a Secretarial course learning Shorting and Speed typing. I then got a job temping with a UK Bank , then moving into a Secretary receptionist job before becoming a personal assistant and legal secretary. The key for me was having some references supplied by some female friends and ex work colleagues that knew me (I didn't disclose then that I was a TG (this was later what got me outed)) and then from College where I attended as a woman and a series of temp agency jobs again where I built up a track record as a hard and diligent worker, I was able to present well. I also went to night school for both deportment and make up lessons as I cleverly understood that presentation especially as a Secretary & receptionist where I was dealing with the public was going to be critical to my success. For instance , having well manicured and painted nails and toenails all the time, was very important
