I started my new job on Monday with an amazing company. HR knew I was trans going in to it because I had to explain why my references were in a boy's name. I assumed everyone at the company knew, but they didn't. I made facebook friends with a few people at work. I was talking to one of them and he asked who the guy was on all my old facebook posts, was it my ex. So I explained that used to be me and he told me that he had no clue. It really gave me a huge boost of confidence!
Next up, my new license with my new name, pic and gender marker came in the mail, followed by my social security card. I got almost all my banks and all that transferred over to the new name and just got confirmation that my passport is on its way!
I got a health insurance plan that's going to cover surgery with Marci Bowers and I found out that my company provides 30 days of short term disability that I'll be able to use!
hings are really looking up compared to one month ago!

You know if you contact your references and previous employers they will update your info and give a reference to your new name.  Just have to show the court order for the name change.

I've been planning on doing that. My name change came through a lot quicker that it was supposed to so I didnt get around to doing that. I was more concerned with getting all my documents in line for when I started the new job. I didnt want them to have to go in and change my name after like a week of me being there. Once the change came through, I literally did everything in a day.

I am about 2-3 weeks away from my name change being complete.  Cannot WAIT for that day.  Last piece of the puzzle for me, and will be so happy to see the new name and gender!

Its such a relief to have that new license. I had issues every single time that I had to show it. The last time was at Victoria's Secret, I had to exchange a bra and for some reason they make you show ID even when you have the receipt. The lady said "ma'am, you need you're ID, you can use your husbands."

Good for you Michelle,

Those are major milestones in our assertion of self.  What a joy to have those documents when traveling and dealing with commerce and more.  Sounds like this was further validation of your new life.  Congratulations!

Michelle, you know I've commented about your pictures as you've transitioned both here and elsewhere, and you've come so very far! Congratulations on the new job, on the acceptance by people, and how well you are passing! I know you've worked very hard at this and are now reaping the fruits of that work. Good for you! :)
