Hey! I was wondering if anyone here have had any problems with acne during the hrt. Im on my 2nd month and I think my skin is getting softer, but I'm still getting some issues with it.
Thanks!

Estrogen and anti-androgens such as Spiro and Cypro reduce sebum and acne. Medroxyprogesterone acetate (Provera), progesterone, and progestogens in general may make it worst.

If you think about it, you are going through a second puberty. Both female and male hormones can cause acne as the body changes its chemistry and settles into its new role. Some people never have a problem with it while others have a big problem with it.

If you think that good hygiene alone isn't solving your acne, you might want to ask your Dr. what he recommends as far as a topical medication.

HRT really caused my face to break out for the second week. Now I'm back to the normal 2 pimples a week deal :/
Trying to take it one day at a time :)

Androgens (i.e. testosterone, DHT) and progesterone (and most progestins) stimulate oil production from sebaceous glands while estrogen inhibits it. Anti-androgens such as cyproterone, spironolactone and bicalutamide inhibit oil production. Increased oil production=(most likely)increased acne.
