Facebook coming out letter

So I posted this to all my close friends on Facebook last night and had an amazing response to coming out. So i am now out and proud and there is no turning back.

To my dear friends and family,
Many of you may already be aware of my current situation, but I wanted to let everyone else know also. I would love to be able to tell you all individually, but it is not possible, so here we go. I am transgendered, and always have been. What this means is that I have both a feminine side and a masculine side to my personality.
I am currently in a transition phase and so you may notice my feminine side coming out a lot more in the future. My family loves and accepts me for who I am, and I hope that you will also. My loving wife and I are still very happy together and are not separating in any way.
I have posted a link below that may answer some questions you might have about what it means to be transgendered. If you still have any questions about this, or about what it means to me, please feel free to call or message me. I thank you very much for your love and friendship towards me in the past, and I hope to continue that into the future.

Possibly not quite so well as that (sigh).  It's a good letter and I'm glad you had such a supportive response because it doesn't always go that way.

I just changed my profile name and made my gender public. I had a few people send me confused but supportive messages. The only negative nancy in the bunch was an aunt/uncle pair who I don't particularly like anyway.

I had considered writing something like you did, but I have mixed feelings about social media. Once it's out there, you can never take it back and I have stealth aspirations once I'm finished with the medical aspects of my transition.

I've been considering coming out on facebook soon and looking for a way to work it, so that really helps get me started.
I was going to go the whole just change my name and gender route, but I don't wanna deal with the confusion. I want it to be definite. Though I can understand someone wanting to stay stealth.
