Hey Greg!  Welcome to Susans - we can always use a few more guys here.  :)

Looking at your pic, I'd say you're pretty androgenous/male at this point, which is cool, because in our society, when in doubt, most folks will opt for the male presumption.  (Women tend to be less offended at being called male, then are Men when called female)   ;)

It's esp cool that you don't need to bind or anything, but what no_id said is true - I grew darn breasts at like age 28!   >:(

In the long run though, how male or female you "look" isn't the most important thing in presenting... I personally think how you carry yourself, your speech and mannerisms, and how you dress make more of a difference in people's perceptions.

But either way, the fact that you've identified yourself and are already working on your family is way cool - I envy you!  Best of luck with your mom - it may take a long time before she totally accepts your male identity.

Hey Greg and Welcome To Susans!

I agree with Scott you do look very androgenous now. However you do look like a VERY young male!  Which is cool... wish I could pass easier!

Your mum should catch on.... sooner or later... just when she gets her head around it!

Keep Smiling! ;D

I agree with the above posters. And sometimes it takes seeing physical changes before a mother will accept what's going on. That's what it took for my mother.

thanks everyone :) my mom told me once that "you should wait untill you're old enough to know for sure about these things" but I do know for sure, but she just says "wait untill you get older, if you're thirty and you decide you want to be a guy go ahead" i just tell her that i think i was supposed to be a guy.

THIRTY!!  no way. As soon as you're 18 it doesn't matter what your mom thinks...

If you could put your picture up as your avatar for those of us who didn't get a chance to see it, that would be spiffy. Of course no pressure at all.

Well, yeah... I'd guess from the pic 15 to 18, but hey, that's no put down or anything to be embarressed about - you're who you are, and your age isn't a bad OR good thing... it's just part of who you are.

I've never been uptight personally about my age; in fact, I was glad to hit 30; didn't mind 40, etc.  Age isn't something to be uptight about if you feel good about yourself, regardless of what the chronilogical number may be.

Now... let's talk reality. (And for people uptight about aging, this is kind of cool...)  In my experience, FTMs tend to look younger than they really are...
Given that, you could easily be in your early 20's or something for what anyone knows from that one small pic.  It really doesn't matter either way - you're simply who you are.

I was getting carded well into my 30's, IF the person read me as male.  I look a little younger than I am even if read as female, but for many FTMs, we appear younger if people look at us as male.

Part of it is often a slimmer build, or lack or heavy facial growth, softer skin, etc, but either way, it can be an advantage at times.

So anyway, live it up, laugh when carded 15 years from now, and smile - knowing that you'll always be able to look a little younger than many people your same age.  This can be kind of cool when you hit your 40's!   ;)  Enjoy man!

Im not worried about aging right now because I actually am fifteen. And even last year I would go to a restaurant and theyd give me that kids menu thing, you know, with the puzzles and crosswords....:|. But Im not stressing, id just always wonder about why people read me as male. Like what qualities about me make me look/come off as male, you know?

I want to ask one of my close friends what they see when they look at me, like male or female? But Im too scared too, I dont want them telling people about this kinda stuff...

You're probably right in not asking... it would be really hard for most people, let alone teens (no offence!) to resist the temptation to gossip about a question like that.  Unless you're willing to be prematurally outed, that would be a pretty risky thing.

If I were to hazard an opinion about what aspects of your appearence seem more male, I'd say the fairly angular, sharper facial features - you don't have the slight fat or fullness of face more often found in females.  Mostly, you seem pretty androgenous, which is cool, because that'll allow you to present either way, depending on need.  It's all much more about how you carry/present yourself; mannerisms; speech patterns; etc, than anything else, anyway.

Good luck man!   8)

Scott
