Hello there :) my name is Elisa, 30 years old from Italy. Now I'm finally trying to decide where have my SRS... I will not take it in Italy since in my opinion there are not really expert surgeons in this kind of surgery. I focused mainly on two surgeons: Manero (Spain, http://www.ivanmanero.com/en/services/gender-unit/female-transsexual) and Suporn (Thailand, http://www.supornclinic.com/). Aesthetically I saw some results and I have to say that I like both, both surgeons have a large amount of experience, both surgeons guarantee a 15 cm depth although their technique is different. Functionally both surgeon are top. I am open to any advice also with other surgeons... thanks you all!

I've not heard of Manero before, but I don't think Suporn guarantees anything at all, let alone 6 inches. It might be common, but not a guarantee.

The differences between Spain and USA/Thailand are interesting.

I couldn't help but notice the title text (displayed in the tab) in Dr Manero's website, the use of "->-bleeped-<-" being unexpected. And it seems you need to be a "real transexual". Maybe translation issues?

Only one psych letter, but you need to see an endo. Looks like a GP is not enough.

Hi losteli and welcome to Susan's.

While I'm not informed of those physicians, there is a lot of information here and many friends to be made.

Here are some links to site rules and answers to often asked questions.

@AnonyMs when you say that the ->-bleeped-<- term is unexpected you are right.. anyway I think it is a translation issue.

I will read carefully the forum :) ... for me it's important to choose where to have surgery in order to plan it for the next year... so any advice will be greatly appreciated!!

I too would like advice on choosing. I have no intention of leaving the US (flying is bad enough and there are complications with my job in leaving the country on top of the fact that leaving the country is more complicated than just flying). Based on what I've heard from several of the others I think I really like Bowers.

I like the fact that she's had it done. The fact that she helps people for free that have had FGM. Her FGM patients regain feeling when most people claim its not possible. The fact that several people have mentioned self lubrication. There were a few other things I liked about her but I can't recall off the top of my head.

I know there is another one in the US that has also been through the procedure but I don't recall the name.

Well, I'm a horror story of Suporn's.
If you heal quickly, your 8 inches is gonna be 5 within the first week or two like me. Dreadful dilation with him. And, I look like crap after 2 years and after a touch up. Sensation is good. Lot's of erectile tissue left using his technique, so if you like to still feel like having a penis, he's a good choice. The scars and the masterfully done appearance of your vulva, will get people questioning you or even walk out on you when you get intimate. So if you like to live as if you haven't gotten anything done, he's a great choice.
Oh, when he does screw up, it's your fault. No apologies.

For me it's important that they are skilled to get best outcome, and that they are committed to the patient.  In many countries this has become an industry and operates like a business where really it seems like nobody gives a toss for the patients welfare and it's all about their bottom line,
