I left a message but have not heard back yet, and I'm also a little curious. Did you have to shave your chest at all for top surgery? I'm mostly interested in people that had a DI with grafts, but everyone can chime in.

I don't have a lot to get rid of, but there is some there that I imagine would be in the way or look strange if it was left on, as it's around the nipple area.

As far as the poll - please only select either of the YES options if your surgeon required or recommended it.

yep my surgeon had me shave my chest down to my belly button and my armpits. they even checked to make sure i shaved and if i missed any or had to go over it again, the provided a razor to do so. i didn't have much chest hair either but i still did it.

I only had to shave my pits. I had some long hairs around my nipples but I think they took care of that after I was out. I went to Dr. G.

I went to Medalie. He didn't ask me to shave beforehand and I didnt. They trimmed the areas that were affected after I was under anesthesia, but didn't completely shave anything. I wouldn't think you would want to worry about getting ingrown hairs along your grafts and incisions.

My hairy housemate at NBR shaved it himself. But, Garramone, said they could do it if he didn't want to do it himself.

It would of been better if I would of shaved my armpits since Medalie put one drain hole in the hair. I lived though.

Thanks guys! I think I'll leave it as is. I get there an hour early, so if I need to shave anything, there's more than enough time to do it then.

I think I will at least trim the armpits though based on the discussion here.

Yes, I shaved my armpits.  If I had any chest hair (I was pre-t), I personally would have shaved.
