Joi

Hi! I am a Trans-woman & just joined. I am a late blooming flower child of the '60's in transition.  Well versed in all things trans as I have been dealing with this since the 50's.  Hope to be able to share my experiences and learn from others.

What brought me to the site was a search for info RE: Medicare & SRS.  I was initially thrilled to learn that Medicare had removed the exclusion for coverage of SRS last year.  I started calling surgeons & didn't have to spend too much time at that task before learning that none of the experienced surgeons in the USA accepted Medicare.  I have a supplemental policy that covers what Medicare doesn't and thought I had found a way to get this accomplished.  Then read on this site that Medicare only covers roughly 10% of the cost of the surgeon's fee. Thus no surgeon will participate  (at least not that I have found "yet").

Isn't the collusion between the Fed. Government & the Insurance Co.'s just amazing.  Oh well!  I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Not giving up!  Just a little (or a lot) sad.

Hugz,

Joi
