Apologies as I am sure this info must have been posted somewhere on this site before but I can't find it.  I have been entertaining the idea of hormones recently but I am not really sure what the options are.  I am AMAB so looking at feminising hormones.  I'm not looking to present as female but I'm thinking about some of the effects such as; psychological effects; softening of skin/hair, and possibly limited breast growth.  Also I have seen that side effects include issues with loss of libido and risk of osteoporosis.  I'm not sure which of either the desired or undesired effects are permanent or reversible if you stop taking hormones. Also I know that phytoestrogens are generally seen as ineffective (and risky at high doses) for binary transgender people but maybe there may be useful effects for people such as myself who are looking for more moderate effects?

Basically I am pretty much a noob about hormones and am looking for some resources from a non-binary AMAB perspective.  I live in the UK if that is relevant. Cheers :)

My advice is to see a professional, Doctor or/and Endo...

All HRT has some effect either Permanently, long term or short term, some people find that HRT has little effect or no effect on libido, others there is, for me it affected me very quickly. As far as effect on your male downstairs bits, it will be pretty permanent over time, so I would go see a professional, seriously!

Definitely don't self medicate and avoid other promised remedies...

The main benefit of seeing a Dr or Endo is that it can be closely and finely monitored and adjusted along the way.

Good luck

Hi katrinaw, thanks for your advice.  I am not at the stage yet where I want to take hormones, I am just looking at what potential options may be for the future.  And no I'm not looking to self medicate.  But I'm finding it hard to find information that I trust about hormones from a non-binary perspective.

Hi Saint. I was wondering if you have tried out the non binary forum. Many of them are on hormones and should be able to give you advice from a non binary perspective. How each of us responds to hormones differs and it depends on what you would like to gain from hormones and possibly avoid from them. Hugs

I'm a non-binary phytoestrogen user. I've had nice effects, don't listen to the nay-sayers. As far as high doses, I take three capsules a day, one with each meal. It runs around ten dollars a month and gave me the breasts I was looking for. I'm presenting as a man with breasts, or a woman with a penis depending on how you want to look at it. Either way is fine by me. :)

Hugs, Devlyn
