i hate the American public transportation system.

I got into Indianapolis, IN by greyhound bus at about midnight. I got in from Detroit MI at about midnight. The Muncie bus come at 11:35 in the morning. I'm tired.

public transit isnt that bad where i live. except for snow and rain, i get to place fairly quickly.

I hearya every time I go to and from Seattle the trip home has greyhound drop me off at around 1 am in the morning in Pasco. I'm completely dreading it when it comes to my trip to Arizona because I will leave Pasco on a Sunday afternoon  and get stuck in Portland 5 hours to leave before midnight on a different bus to have to ride all day and night to make another transfer in LA late at night before arriving on a Tuesday morning in Phoenix. It's completely in sane these schedules are. In the meantime hang in there. The times and layovers maybe awful, but they do get us there. Hugs

Ugh.....  in Indy no less.....  The bus station is located in a terrible part of town and there isn't anything to do but stay inside and wait .....  I hope the rest of your trip was ok once you got moving again!

Most of these systems in smaller cities are primArily used by seniors.

I used to party on late night greyhounds. They aren't really good a schedules. I think that is because they aren't used enough for them to put on more buses.

I've taken trains a time or two. It can be a great way to travel, but it's rarely cheap. Most times an airplane is less expensive, if more stressful.

Greyhound is a private carrier, it's not public transportation.

In the US, "public xyz" means it's paid for by tax dollars. Public schools vs private schools, public transportation vs private carrier, etc. "Private xyz" means it's funded by customers directly.

Public transport (local buses, ferries, paratransit) tends to be...well, functional. It's nowhere near what I've heard Europeans and the Japanese have.
