So the past Sunday, I officially came out to everyone I know on Facebook. I also started telling people around school and trying to get people used to the new name/pronouns. That being said, with so little time left in my semester (two weeks left) I didn't tell every since people or even all of my teachers. Some of them I'm not very close to and I figured it was better to just deal with it for two weeks than deal with the confusion/questions/ect. And then next semester I'll have a fresh start with my new name.
But my one class I"m very close with the teacher and had told him a few months ago that I was trans (he even helped me with my name) so I wasn't sure how he was going to handle class. It's a small poetry workshop class with only 11 students so we're all kinda closer than normal classes.
Anywho, long story short. My professor stopped class early and (with my permission) told everyone in the class about my transition. He worded it beautifully and gave this whole big speech about how we should all "speak our truths" and how if I were his son he would be so proud of me. And then he pulled out a cake that said "Congratulations Abe!" and we had a party. It was so awesome!
