I just came out to a Dr. about 9 days ago. It's kinda funny how I ended up there, my first choice was booked solid. She gave me a couple names, one of the people I'd already talked to, the other was a "faith counselor" who totally seemed shocked by what I had told her. She had the sense to tell me she had no experience in gender indentity, though. After that I did research on my own, made some calls, most of which ended with, "(S)he doesn't practice here anymore", "I have no experience with gender Identity", or, "I'm booked until X-mas 2068". I was hoping I would find a female Dr, I feel more comfortable talking to women. I had given up that hope at this point. I was trying to contact a male Dr in the area, and I found a female Dr, working in the same office, with an appointment open that afternoon. All that aside, be honest, express your feelings. My Dr asked me if I had considered hormone therapy on my first visit, and was totally receptive to what I had to say. If your Dr doesn't listen to your needs, find one that will. Keep moving toward your goal, and you can achieve it.
