mom saw my painted toenails

So recently I had my toenails painted a nice blue color because I thought I would look nice and it did, and I really enjoyed it. I generally wore socks around my mother so she didn't notice what I had done, but one day I was in the kitchen getting food and my mom walked in and saw my toenails. She started yelling at me when I told her I wanted to be a woman and told me these feelings aren't true and that I was a boy and that I wasn't allowed to do girly things and whatnot. Been making me feel worse than I already have recently.
Seventeen and strung out on confusion,
Seventeen and coming clean for the first time,
no mom and dad will never understand,
what's happening to me.

Princess,

It could have been that they were blue that confused her. If you had used pink she may have known, pink is for girls

Just try and keeping talking to her, maybe put your feelings in a letter for her to read. It can be very confusing for parents to get their head around that they have a trans*child.

But most parents love their children, it can just take a bit of time to get through to them.

Do you have a school counsellor you can talk to?

Hugs young lady.

Getting sprung like that is really uncomfortable. But it has changed the dynamic, and now she knows how you feel - and she will need to deal with it at some point. Hopefully when she calms down she will be in more of a talking mood.

I do, and to be honest I've been afraid to even talk to her because of how my mom would react if the counselor told my mother. It's this kind of stalemate that drags me down a lot.

You can tell your counsellor that your comments and talks are private, that you have a problem with your Mum and that you are searching your way through your feelings. The counsellor has to respect that; that is their job.

I always have my toes painted because I think it's cute , sorry that your mother didn't take it well, my mother wasn't too happy when I first told her but she came around eventually.
