Sabrina

This past Saturday, I got my ears pierced for the first time. I went to Claire's and the lady did an excellent job. It makes me look more lady like and I feel much better :)

That's wonderful, congratulations! I'm still trying to buck up the courage to get mine done.

I was so frightened to get mine done! It is a right of passage! And so many ear rings become available!

I love ear rings!

Congrats Sabrina, Welcome to the club. Definitely don't touch them but if you have to please wash hands first. Sounds like we have the same last in places to get our ears pierced. Hugs

I will get this done some time within the next five weeks after I'm healed well-enough from my FFS next week.  It will be part of my going full-time and also to help mark the occasion.  I finally feel like I'll have 'permission' to do so.  There's no way I ever could have done this as a male because it would have raised a major red flag to others, particularly because so many people believed I was closet-gay.  Now that the real truth will be out I won't have to deal with it leading to such awkward questions.

Got mine pierced about 3 months ago and was able to go "stealth" during the 6 weeks healing period because I had them pierced with glass retainers.

Since I have been able to swap them in and out I have been such a happy girl.  I love the options.

It is indeed a right of passage and it is one I have looked forward to for a very long time. I was always jealous of my straight male friends as they all have one ear pierced. I always knew I couldn't do just one and if I did both it would set me off inexorably toward transition. I'm inspired enough by this thread that I may just manage to make it happen this week. I was trying to talk myself into it anyway.

When people who don't know that I am transitioning ask about my earrings I tell them that I went with two because I believe in the laws of symmetry.

Ha, that sounds exactly like something I'd say!

Good idea. Since I'm not out at work yet I am wondering how to get them pierced without any suspicion. People are already asking questions.

Congrats...

It is like a right of passage and its something easy to have done, it virtually painless.. and with the right pair of earrings you can look more female. Personally i love wearing hooped earrings

I now have 3 sets of holes in each ear and my right cartilage is done too... My navel is pierced as well and I have a small stud in my nose.
Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

Congrats! I got mine done just over 4 months ago and am so happy that I finally was able to get them. I have always wanted to have them but never had the courage before to do it. Mine are very simple steel studs. At 61, not something that is 'done' in my communities. As I too am stealth, I often reply that it is the rebel in that made me do it. I want to get small gold hoops next.

Congratulations!!

For my after care I was told to do twice a day salt water compresses and they never got infected.  For those worried about doing it and people asking questions.  I found that of all the things I did before I was out, that getting my ears pierced was the least commented on.  I thought people would make a big deal out of it, but almost no one noticed.  Unlike the first time I braided my hair!  It's funny what people notice and what they do not.

Ahhh that is so exciting and makes me want to get mine done! Maybe I will after I get my hair done on Friday! :D

Congrats!  I got mine done a few months ago, something I had been meaning to do and just kept putting off "until tomorrow".  Then one day I finally just jumped in the car and went to a local piercing shop and had it done.  Ten minutes later I was walking out all done.  One was just a redo as I had a single ear piercing from when I was much younger that had to be reopened, the other was all new so now I match.  :)

Amazing how that works.

For 30 years I only had my right ear pierced.  Then, when I thought about transitioning (and I got tired of converting pierced earrings to clip ons) I did my left ear by myself one night.  Then I went to Claire's and got a 2nd piercing in each ear.  Now I am ready for # 3!!

Be careful it can be addicting.  Now I have to convert all those clip ons back into pierced ones.   ::)

I got my first piercings before I started HRT... around 2 years ago now. Honestly, I kinda liked the sensation of getting pierced too much, so on my 1 year anniversary of being on HRT, I got a second set right above the first (both lobe piercings). I've gotten both done by Claire's at my local mall and I've had no problems :3

I'm planning on getting another set of piercings when I hit the 3 year anniversary on HRT, prolly at going to get them done at the top of my ears... and whenever I get my final surgery, I might go all out and get a tattoo to celebrate :P

The ironic thing is, I was previously terrified of needles... I got my first set with friends because I wanted to get over that, now I'm hooked :P

I have had mine done for a couple years and i have been toying with the idea of getting a second set. Today I dont think it matters that much anymore how you present - male or female for pierced ears. My problem is I like to buy earrings....  ::)
