I live in Evanston Il. it's a college town. I've been full time for like 3 weeks I think , but not quite sure time flies when your having fun. today I went to the store a few blocks from where I live and I was at the checkout counter and the cashier said I marked some bulk candy wrong  , so instead of wasting time getting the price I told her that I didn't want it. I get to the tables where you can eat stuff and dug into my groceries and found she had put the candy in my bag. Then walking back home on the street was this homeless lady panhandling , who I've known for a few years . I hadn't seen her for a while and she'd never seen me in a dress and make up. I was walking towards her and I had no escape route and she saw me coming. She stated a conversation with me and never batted an eye as I'm standing there in my pretty new dress I just bought. we talked for about 4 minutes and I'm waiting for the what's up with the dress and there was nothing just a normal conversation. It's been like that all around my neighborhood , people are smiling at me. This morning before going to the store I was drinking coffee out front of a cafĂ© by my apartment and this girl goes by and gives me a thumbs up. I think she worked a couple of stores down at a pizza place. It's been pretty cool going full time. Just a happy note.

yea, it's a nice little community, I didn't realize how nice it was until this full time thing and peoples reactions. Well, I knew it was good because I've lived here for twenty years , but the acceptance really is great.

That's great. Hopefully it'll help someone else find the courage. I know I had myself terrified of going outside, always expecting Carrie's mother to be right about, "they're all going to laugh at you", and it never happened. Nobody seemed to notice or care. I didn't put as much faith in people as I should have.

Yes. People are basically kind and accepting. Money and greed sometimes deteriorate some of them.

A few women in my neighborhood seem to be curious about me, and ask about me to my wife, not directly to me. It is weird. They denote me as a relatively young woman.

Just do it.
