I can't afford electrolysis Dx And even if I could, I don't have a car and my dad refuses to drive me to anywhere related to me transitioning. I don't have friends to drive me either.

I tried looking on the internet for schematics of an electrolysis machine, but all that comes up is the chemistry related machine of electrolysis, not the hair removal machine.
Does anyone know where I can find schematics for a hair removal electrolysis machine that the total cost of needed materials is under $100.?
My father is a retired electrician so he would be able to easily help me make it. And he has a bunch of spare electrical components of all shapes and sizes laying around.

If not, is there any permanent hair removal method/device for under $100.? I'll try anything, as long as it's under $100. I just want my shadow gone, it's difficult to hide even with dermablend.:/ I mean the growth is a bit slower and not as noticeable since starting HRT, but I still want my shadow completely gone. It's gross.

Many such devices are for sale on ebay or amazon, premade, starting at $30 delivered. Go to amazon.com, enter electrolysis, I don't see anything but hair removal.

I've got one, it works - and it is permanent, yes.

Hi, a friendly warning from someone who has undergone 100 or so hours in the electro torture chair...

I do not recommend DIY electrolysis.  It takes a lot of training to do this properly, and getting a license to do this is not easy.  You do not want to risk burning or otherwise scarring your beautiful, beautiful face by using yourself as a guinea pig.  I have even had it done by a licensed professional and ended up with a face that looked like hamburger/moonscape for months.

There have been people here who bought a used machine and did it themselves, one of which admitted to burning herself repeatedly, having pits from infections and needing laser resurfacing to attempt to repair the damage.

Please don't hurt your pretty face.

I agree home electrolysis is very risky and you may scar yourself.

Some people have had success with laser such as the Tria laser, which is for home use. Threading can also be quite effective.

But I would counsel against self electrolysis.

Like tattooing and dentistry don't do this at home! There's a real risk of scarring and infection

I tried a Tria home electrolysis machine that cost £30 - £40 & it was a complete waste of money.
Around that time I posted on here to find out about other peoples experience & the general view was that it's not a good use of cash, especially when you're already on a limited budget.

As for a home made machine. . . . . my mind reels at the thought of it, even the slightest error could lead to problems

You have to be carefull, have good hygiene, lot of time etc. I made no scar. Before that, I got 1 bad scar (2x 3mm) from a "professional" which is why I decided to work on it at home.

Also, check all the videos. You zap once, twice, then pull. If it's not coming out you were not deep enough and your technique is bad. Move to the next. Rince, repeat.

I've had times where I could barely epilate myself (the machine that is basically a revolving set of tweezers). I did laser yesterday and it was FAR worse than the epilator. Granted I've never epilated my face and I've never lasered my arms or legs and I would imagine that electrolysis is different than laser, but I would expect it to be just as painful. There is no way in hell I could have done that myself. If I was you I would save up for when you can afford to do it professionally without your father interfering.

Laser for me has been better because it's over quickly. Electrolysis is an hour or more of just plain torture.

After trying the Tria, and a modified OneTouch that could fit professional needles, I would reccomend you save money for professional laser, and a cab to get you there and back.

I wasted about 2 years being cheap. The tria is painful, and doesn't work on a beard, and the onetouch, well it works, but it is sooooo slow and it is really hard to do it on yourself. You might be able to reduce hair on one side, but you'll end up with scarring and pitting and time=money and it is a huge waste of money.

After giving up on the home-stuff, I went to a pro electrologist, and that was super expensive and not worth it.

I'm a few months into my first professional laser, and it is AWESOME! Super quick, no pain, and great results. I know for sure I got a bad price, but even with the high price, it is much more worth it when you factor in time/money and results.

If you're curious, I'm getting face, neck, and brazilian for ~$4.5k USD I'm guessing it should be closer to $2-3k but oh well :/

I might follow up my laser treatment with some electro, but that's a ways off.

Wellll it's going to be at bare minimum two years before I can afford professional laser treatments.

Right now, $3000 is nearly a year's salary for me lol..
