Hey everyone, I was hoping you'd be able to give me some advice.

I had my first appointment with James Caspian, he told me to have 4 therapy sessions before my second appointment with Dr Curtis. I got Caspian's letter about my gender history, consent form etc.

I booked my next appointment today, I asked the receptionist about getting my blood test between now and the appointment but he said that's something Dr Curtis would have to discuss with me as it's a 'medical matter'.
I was under the impression that I'd be able to get a blood test between the 1st and 2nd appointment, and that this appointment would be the prescription?

Is it possible for me to speak to Curtis directly about getting the blood test done before the next appointment? It seems pointless to go back a third time just with test results.

I'd appreciate some advice from you guys, if possible.

Thanks

Hi qwlmp, welcome to Susan's. I look forward to seeing you around the site. I would have thought they would have been ordered at the first appointment. Good luck and hugs

Hi Mariah, thank you!

I thought so too, I asked James at the end of the session and he told me to ask the receptionist who basically said the same thing I was told today. Something along the lines of, "you don't need to have that done yet".

Does anybody know whether I'm able to ask to speak to Dr Curtis over the phone so I can ask him personally?

Hey, sorry but I don't have the answer to your question but I'd love it if you can answer my questions about transhealth. I hope you don't mind. I rang them up last thurs and booked an appointment with dr curtis for july, but have yet to get a confirmation email. Is this usual? Also what generally is transhealth like? Sorry again about hijacking your thread, I hope you get your answer  :)

I would call his office and ask to speak to his nurse because they are the ones that gets to talk to the doctor directly. I don't know your medical history so that history could also be playing a role. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. All my numbers that mine needed perscribe HRT were taken care of before I saw the Endo. Good luck and hugs.

Thanks Mariah, I will call on Monday and try to get an answer. I don't have any medical history that would stop me from getting T.
Trying not to be pessimistic but I hope they don't say they're not able to tell me over the phone! Would make the journey down there pretty pointless...

I didn't receive a confirmation email after paying so I wouldn't worry about that.

Hi, I don't think you can speak to Dr Curtis directly as all calls are answered by his receptionist. It's odd how you haven't been asked for a blood test as they need to know your initial levels or if you have any health issues prior to starting hormones.

Hi, thanks for responding. Yeah I'm not sure why James didn't talk to me about that.

Do you know if the receptionist will let me talk to someone else though? I was planning on saying it's confidential and I want to talk with someone handling my transition.

I did email James to ask if he could tell me more, but will have to wait until Monday for a response. I'll still try calling anyway ???

I've never been in touch with them via email and have always phoned. Hope he can clarify everything for you on Monday. The receptionist has always been friendly when I've called so I wouldn't be worried about getting in touch.
