How Transgender Women Make Topless Laws Look Even More Ridiculous And Offensive Than We Already Knew They Were

I have to ask: at what point did my breasts become unlawfully erogenous? At what point did my nipples go from harmless to hazardous? What gives?

Now, before someone sends me an email saying something like, "It's the cost of being a woman" or some sexist garbage like that, just... don't. I'm asking, for a completely rational, logical standpoint, how is it that the same part of the same body can go from being benign to pearl-clutchingly offensive simply because the context (i.e., the rest of my body and its changing appearance) shifted? Is it because my breasts are larger than they used to be? Well, no, that logic doesn't hold up; lots of dudes have pretty massive man-titties and their toplessness is still infinitely more permissible than that of even the most meager-breasted woman. So it's not a size thing.

When you've gone over all the possible defenses for such a double standard in institutionalized views of people's bodies, there's no getting around it: Women are seen as inherently sexual objects, whereas men are granted the right to exist in all sorts of states,

Some people say I'm apathetic, but I don't care.

I firmly disagree. I do not want to see naked people in public. And no, I don't want to see some guy running around showing his hairy moobs, either. I'm equal opportunity here. They all need to put on shirts. :P

This is what we have nudist colonies for.

What if my breasts are visible through my shirt?  Is that illegal ?

I've asked the exact same question to myself and at one point my parents. My mom said you know what, don't ask just assume they already are. In other words the I need to fit into a broken society mentality. It is ultimately how I'm living, but it doesn't change the fact that I still don't get it. I say free the nipple.

It's so pervasive it's part of the rules here, too.  :-\

Ya but it's part of keeping this site out of as many adult filters as we can. We are listed in the filter Denny's use as nudity and pornography, LOL.

OK, I'll come out and say it: This article bothers me.

It's one more piece of ammunition for those who are trying to spread the lie that we have an "agenda" and that we're trying to force our version of the world on people.

Yes, the taboo against women going topless makes no logical sense, as is true with a lot of our customs and norms. But does our community really want to waste our shot fighting it. Don't we have bigger battles.

Suzi, as the minority we are, don't you think the voices of transwomen pretty much disappear in the background of any topless battles? As for ammunition, it's a losing battle anyway, let the holdouts take their final shots. We are seeing the tipping point. Transgender people are recognized and rapidly gaining acceptance. Get a picture of a dinosaur while you can, they're going to be extinct soon.  :)
