Hi there! My name is Leilani and I am nearing the end of my first month of hormone replacement therapy. I am making the transition with the oral hormone pills and they are at a low dosage for now until the third month. Everything is seemingly going to work out well for me, but the only major obstacle in my way remains Electrolysis. I have gone in once for a small session on a portion of my upper lip last week, but money will be as tight as ever if I can not cut some holes to make this easier and more efficient for me. I have a ton of hair I need to treat and will be looking into laser for larger areas in an attempt to lessen the load, but electrolysis is the vanguard in the battle against my body hair and I need to make ends meet, particularly the end of a probe to the end of each and every follicle, and money isn't going to just pour out of my soul to make this work.
My Electrologist explained how she would support any effort to get my health insurer to cover the cost of electrolysis and provide whatever documentation she could, but I am pretty sure I am not prepared to make this case against them lol. I assume I could try to sway my doctor (who prescribes me my hormones) to jump on board and see if prescribing electrolysis as a necessary treatment for my transition could get the insurance company to pull through with the coverage I need, no matter what crap paper work or verbal obligations I need to make. I just really want to put the insurance company's money to work and get this hair all up off of my body ASAP

Please give me any advice you can or lend some helpful insight on my plan and whatever else, you know the deal

Thank you all <3
