FreyasRedemption

So, hello, friends.
My name is Freya. Even though nobody has ever even called me that.
I kinda have always known that something is wrong with my body. Although it took me 15 years to properly figure out what exactly that thing was. Well, 13 plus two and a half years of denial.
After going through an intense mental breakdown last summer (could be called the worst time of my life) I have told numerous people about my issues. First to a certain person in school whom I could trust. Then a few teachers. My parents. Now I am going through a phase of incredibly slow mental examination (which was so hard to set up in the first place, it felt like somebody was attempting to run it into red tape. With this government we have here in Finland, it wouldn't be a big surprise.) and also attempting to carve myself a decent corner of this world to live in. Just now, life is difficult. School is just about to end. The officially mandatory part, at least. However, there is absolutely not a single career path I could possibly imagine myself in. This ain't got anything to do with me being a trans woman, I just happen to be, quote, "brilliant but lazy".
And now some random answers to some questions which probably won't even be asked:
My profile name: Well, Freya is a name that fits me, and "redemption" just happens to be one of my favourite words. No religious connection at all.
Why I am not going to any Finnish sites for these chats, even though I am Finnish: 'Cause I happen to be more comfortable speaking (or writing) English. Plus, I plan to leave this country anyway. There just isn't anything for me here.
And why the massive wall of text that nobody actually reads to the end: Well, thanks for actually caring enough to do that.
So that's me. I don't see much else to add.
There is a better tomorrow.
There is a better tomorrow.

Hi Freya,

Welcome to Susan's!
It's really nice to have you with us here, and congratulations on coming out to your parents and other trusted people. Yes, I know those mental examinations and processes can seem slow, but don't worry, you'll eventually get where you need to be. If not in Finland, then wherever else you choose to live your life.
Btw, I know you mentioned no religious connection, but Freya is the Norse goddess of beauty, isn't it? Nice name!

Look forward to seeing you around,

Welcome to the Place Freya,

Congratulations for coming out to your parents and others and for getting out of the denial cycle.  Better to have been in denial for two years rather than decades and to have a strong sense of what your issues are.  Many of us are frustrated by the gatekeepers that impact our ability to get the care we need but your brilliance should help you consider some alternatives.

Good luck

Oh, crap. Said some things the wrong way.
When I wrote "no religious connection" I kinda meant the "redemption" part. It seems to be a Christian theme, so I just wanted to clear it up. In fact, I am somewhat religious, too bad that most people consider my religion a "neo-pagan" or "New Age" religion. Couldn't be further from truth. It is starting to feel kinda insulting...
And I totally did not expect people to notice this so quickly.
I mean, I went downstairs to eat for about twenty minutes, and BAM.
Two comments already.

I think I like this place.
There is a better tomorrow.

One of the best features of this place, for me, is the international and cultural diversity.  I am sort of surprised to hear that some folks from Finland are wanting out.  While it is reasonable, if not expected, that young people want to explore the broader world I have often heard of the Scandinavian countries as more egalitarian with partnerships vs dominator relationship models.

While religious affiliation and spirituality are not a necessarily components of being transgender we do get some action on those specific threads with people exploring and sharing.

Glad you are here but snacking is essential for keeping our finger strength up ;D
