Injection bled a lot?

Hi guys. I'm new but I'm kind of freaking out. I did my testosterone injection this morning. I was kind of slow putting the needle in (sub-q) and I aspirated with no blood, so I continued. When I pulled the needle out it bled a lot. Half a cotton ball soaked. I'm not sure if I had a panic attack or what, but about 15 seconds after I got cold sweats, dizzy, nausea, and ringing in my ears. I'm just kind of nervous. Any thoughts?

Hi Samuel, welcome to Susan's. Once you pull the needle out from any injection your going to want to put a band aid on it because it will be bleed. The amount of blood can very. I'm shocked sometimes by how little I get with my hormone shot. I look forward to seeing you around the site. Good luck and Hugs

Mariah, thanks! I can't put a bandaid on because I'm allergic to adhesive, hence the cotton ball. Injection site hurts a lot more than usual, too. Guess I just had a bad injection day.

In that case, I'm glad your using the cotton ball. Now as far as it hurting more or less that can happen too. Sometimes it's like we hit a nerve or something it just doesn't like it. I probably wouldn't try that exact spot again as a result hopefully you find a spot that doesn't hurt. Hugs

I actually had one that spurted for a time. No biggie, pressure stopped it. It happens sometimes.

I inject in bed just before I go to sleep so I do not put any pressure on my leg. I have no soreness the next day. Otherwise, if I walk on it 10 minutes after an injection I have soreness for 3  days.

I had one bleeder which stopped with pressure.

If I hit a nerve I get a little nauseous but I am in bed and lay down after I inject.

There are a lot of capillaries and small vessels that may bleed after the needle is removed. They are small enough that when you pull back, it collapses the vessel. usually you aren't in the vessel anyway but have ruptured some small skin capillaries on the way in that will bleed after you remove the needle.

Fat also has a lot of small vessels, so if there is fat over the muscle, the vessels in there can be ruptured and bleed. Usually the bleeding is a small amount and as the others have said, a bandaid is all you need.

If, after the next injection you get any symptoms of sweating, anxiety etc., tell your Dr. Some people are allergic to the cotton seed oil or sesame oil that the hormones are mixed in. Its not worth risking an anaphylactic reaction to the drug. Not all serious reactions happen the first or even second time, so even if you think it isn't serious, tell your Dr.

I've had that happen, and it is distressing, but usually nothing to worry about, and it may cause some bruising which should go away in a few days.

Same here. Shot like 6" or more from the injection site.

What likely happened was you nicked a tiny artery or vein on the way in. Pull out the needle and SQUIRT. Luckily for most people they are self sealing. Sometimes you'll get a bruise that may take a while to go away.

Thanks everyone! I've been on T since March 6th, so I'm not sure if I'm allergic to it... Sent my doctor an email, hopefully she'll get back to me today.

I've had panic attacks that are nausea, cold sweats, even puking, but they haven't happened in a while.

I couldn't imagine blood squirting out.
