Is that a direct flight or connected? My experience so far has been with LH, so I have no idea how British Airways work, but with Lufthansa check-in is done online and once You print Your boarding pass You can drop Your luggage in drop-off points by Yourself. Nobody has ever looked at my passport or ID- the pic is more or less up to date there, at least, but even if it wasn't, as I said, nobody ever looked at it, mostly because all actions are done by passengers themselves now ...
The "fun part" might be if You have connecting flight and are travelling via Frankfurt Airport, cause they replaced all their equipment with full body scanners and You cannot fool them. If You will be presenting as female, plus judging from Your avatar picture, most probably the security personell will scan You as female and that will inevitably bring up "suspicious areas", so expect being pulled aside and patted down by female security staff.  In my case I just politely and silently told her not to be surprised about stuff which she might find, because I am transsexual. To my knowledge FraPort is the only one which introduced those measures, so if You are not passing through it, just disregard the last passage :).

Thanks Emily .I am flying out British Airways and back on Monarch airways both Flights are Direct so that is easier .I Know Gatwick has the new full body Scanners as My Daughter is part of the team that is setting them up .So she warned me about being Made my the machine .But she said If you explain that You are transgender as You said they will just pat you down .she also said if You have a new chipped passport to use that that the Machines as They only look at key points of your face and retina's to identify You so Looking feminine will not bother the Machine

I've been patted down the last two flights from Sydney after going though a scanner. I'm presenting male and the scanner is showing breasts. They patted me down from the sides only, and I guess they realized what was going on. They didn't say anything and I didn't either.

It kind of amused me, although I'd be more concerned it if was in some other countries. I'm going to be more careful where I travel from now on.

Hi Toni

I live in Spain and travel frequently to the UK.  At one point my passport and my face were radically out of synch.  It turned out not to be a real problem.

If you are undergoing treatment, take with a copy of the documents explaining this.  When leaving Spain, you may find it useful to notify the airline in advance that you are the same person as your passport, since they often check this before you board.

Passport control stopped me from time to time, but were friendly.

Body scanners could be an issue.  I was stopped due to one, but it identified "things" that had nothing to do with my "bits".

Good luck
Julia
