Husband turns to be a woman

2015-05-26 Sunil Dharmabandu Silva

http://www.dailymirror.lk/73897/husband-turned-a-woman

In a strange turn of events a 30-year-old woman in a complaint to the police has said her 'husband' with whom she had been living for the past eight years was after all a woman and not a man.

found this in local news yesterday.
i don't know what to say. Please feel free to edit this to fit the news format. This just showcases the degree of awareness over transgender community in our society. And i feel sorry for this person.

I don't think there is enough info to say anything either way actually.

In general though if your trans, that needs to come up before you get married, but I'm not even sure if that was the issue here or not.

Interesting in lots of ways, not least because of the typo in the headline. Editorial seems not to be a priority at this paper.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

to clarify, by our society i meant my society, the country i live in. Also this report is much better considering the first report i read of the story, which was in my native language. Also I'm depressed to see such personal matters being highlighted in the media, that too creating the wrong impression among the public.

Yeah. It perpetuates the idea that we're trying to fool people.

Like you, I feel sorry for the guy.

Was he legally a male?

No. He was using fake documents. I doubt if it's legally possible to change gender here

Thank you :) it is beautiful and the people are lovely. It's just that the majority can't bear it when their long held traditions and beliefs are challenged

I'm American. Everyone goes their own way here, but we have a lot of diversity and not everyone agrees on everything.
