Hi Naeree,

I am coming to Thailand in October and really want to see a specialist for ts. Can you recommend a doctor I can see initially on HRT (and possibly implant HRT) in the first instance, rather than surgery?

Many thanks,

Richenda x

Hi Richenda

We have ts hormone specialist here check out http://www.doctoratiwut.com/ it's in Thai so many be you can email him for information you want to know at atiwut@gmail.com

In Thailand TS doesn't really do HRT implant, I think there are HRT Implant in Gynecology use in hospital. But for ts hrt treatment in Thailand mostly pill or injection or patches. Anyway if you are in US UK or Aus, you probably find a good endocrinologist. In Thailand is really good at TS surgery, but for hormone treatment support by specialist still not popular.

By the way you can drop me a hi when you come to Thailand, I like to make new friend from different places ;)

That's so sweet and thank you Naeree so much. I will definitely drop you a line then when I'm on my way there.

Can I ask you a question then? How do so many pre-op (pre SRS) katoey look so incredibly and beautifully feminine? Is that 'just' from pills, patches and surgery like FRS?

I guess most kateoy are feminine because they start transition and hrt at young age. Like in school or high school. So it's normal to see really feminine boy with boy uniform and boy school haircut in every school. By the time they are 18 they already a girl. Some start at older age too but not many. The popular way of HRT in Thailand is injection and pills.

And may be Asia structure got smaller bone frame. Like when I'm in US I feel that I have average girl height and weight, but when I'm in Thailand, I feel like giant. Btw I think any trans start HRT at the age of 15 would be feminine as well, no need to be Asian.

And for surgery, it's depends, some done alot, some don't. We basically have access to many Male to female info and support society, less complicated process, cheaper hormone supply, and cheaper good surgery. And the surgery habbit of Thai girl is different than the rest, most of them do surgery little by little, like a bit on eyes, a bit on nose later and keep get a bit of surgery done forever, I know a girl who get nose done for 15 times. Not many get full FFS at once.

Sample pic of school trans we call "Look Jeab (mean Little Duckling)"  it's before they turn into beautiful Swan

Another possibility is there are so many trans here, that's why people see alot of nice feminine Thai TS, but there many more Thai trans, probably most of them, have the average look. Not all is beautiful feminine.

Hi Naeree,

That's so interesting. Thank you so much for taking the time to give such a detailed explanation. I've travelled through Thailand twice, both times in connection with my work. This next time, as you know, I'm hoping to speak with someone about my situation. The background explanations you have given make complete sense.

I guess I'm quite realistic about what's going to be possible given that I'm not a Look Jeab :) I think for me it's partly about 'feeling' that some transition is happening.

I could live in Thailand: my work means I can live almost anywhere and I love the country although without illusions (I think!). Perhaps if I do then I can take that gradual approach to surgery, which sounds very sensible for those who can make it happen that way.

Thank you so much. ขอบคุณมาก

Do you have a link to this doctor by chance? I'd like to read about the type of procedure they do for voice surgery. If you know what they did, I'd be very interested in hear details. Wondering if they do it like Yeeson or something else entirely.

Wait.. is this her? http://www.dr-ornouma.com/index.php/about
It's just a harmless nickname. Relax.

Wow, that is so cheap, who is the surgeon? I'm leaning with the other poster in recommending the big two names - Chett and Suporn. I've booked with Chett myself.

You need two letters of approval from two psychiatrists in order to have SRS with any reputable surgeon. And living at least 1 year full-time as desired gender is also a requirement everywhere...

Some places only require one letter and other places, including reputable ones, will actually assist with the letters ... I shall say no more about that.

As for living one year full-time as the desired gender, tbh I've no idea what it really means and I don't think those who invented the rule do either. All that should be checked is that it's not a whim, but if you've spent 40 years knowing you're in the wrong body but unable to do anything about it then anyone else can b-off imho about telling you what's right and wrong. It's a pretty silly 'rule.' We are the ones who decide, not others.

love, Chen xx
