Before the media frenzy erupted over Bruce Jenner's life-changing decision to become a woman, another star athlete made the same choice 40 years ago.

Renée Richards, who became one of the most famous transgender individuals after undergoing a sex-change operation in 1975, opened up about how gender acceptance has shifted since the time of her transition. And according to Richards, times have changed.
