Hey all!!  So, like most new trans folks I am wondering about whether I am passable or not.  So, without any further rambling, here we go...  Based on my avatar (sorry about the purple hair, all I have currently) do you all think that I am passable?  I have other pictures that I can share that would give everyone a better idea, but I can't figure out how to upload/post them in a message like this.  Any help would be greatly appreicated!!!!!  Hugs!

Based on your avatar, you have a nice round feminine looking face... But above all, Its really about confidence and blending in... as I am really learning very, very fast! I don't, now, worry so much about how I look, but more about mannerisms, confidence etc...

Use a picture hosting site, like "Photobucket", then post links to the pictures or pull in the picture directly, but being aware of recommendations in the posting guidelines... you can also upload to this site too... if you need help PM any of the staff..

Thank you Miss Katrina for the compliment and the advice on how to get some pictures in.  I posted several to photobucket so here are some more.  The purple hair pictures are from earlier in the year; the ones of me in my current natural state were taken more recently.  I am super proud because I have lost about 30lbs since the purple set was taken with plans to keep losing even more!!!  Pre-HRT.

You are also correct about confidence; it seems that having the right mannerisms paired with a high level of confidence goes a very long way.  Thank you for reminding me that those things are a big factor when blending in; it is easy for me to get lost in thought about my appearance and I am fortunate to have people in my life (like you :) )  to remind me of the things that truly matter.

Thank you so much!!  I got a juicer for Christmas from my fiance's parents and I use it like 3 times a day minimum.  Losing my belly has always been a goal of mine and it feels great to be so far down that road.  Kale is my savior!!!

My soul is female and I know that no matter what, that will always shine through. :)

Above all, natural hair ain't going to be a problem moving forward...

All nice, always never sure of bottom to top shots, maybe its because of my own diabolical shots...

You should try growing your hair out, its amazing how hair can really frame and complete the picture...

Just wait till you start HRT... are you seeing a therapist, can't recall from any earlier posts (haa.. too lazy to check back)

Kale, absolutely love it.... better than Spinach... which I also loved... not the baby stuff, the full massive spinach leaves... definitely a real super food... as they say  ::)

Certainly you have a real good starting point...

You definitely pass :-)

Confidence is so important and mannerisms are good to pay attention to, but (at least for me) it was really about not acting like a guy and learn to just to be myself.  My manager (who has known me for 20 years, long before transition) say I am definitely a girl with the way I act and talk ...

It becomes an upward spiral.  Confidence builds when you become mopre comfortable and when you become more comfortable being you you gain confidence.

Yay!!  I actually am already in the process of growing out my hair; my last 'boy' haircut ever was a complete disaster that left me looking like Jim Carey in the movie 'Dumb and Dumber' lol but not really because my hair looked atrocious.  In the process of looking for a 'girl' right now to help me figure out my style.  Always wanted to have long hair and I am soooo excited to finally be moving down that path.

I really just included the bottom up shot to give the audience an idea of the overall shape of my jawline.

Had my suspicions that HRT might do something special for me; I am not currently seeing a therapist, however I intend to being doing so very soon.  My plan was to start trying to set up appointments either tomorrow or Monday; I have been looking at recommendations in a respected psychology journal on gender therapists in my area and we appear to have several good ones.  I do live in an informed consent state, so access to HRT would be relatively simple and could easily be accomplished next week if I really wanted to do that, but it seems like getting at least a session or two in with a therapist is just a good idea.  Plus I kind of want some help making myself a roadmap and some advice on coming out to the rest of my family.

Honey, Kale has changed my life!!!!  I love spinach as well and I have found that combining those two greens in the same smoothie with some coconut water, pineapple, and whatever berry is in season makes for the perfect start to my day.  I also put in flax/chia mix when I remember.  Hunger and weight management has become a breeze for me; interestingly, since admitting and accepting my true gender identity to myself, almost every other stress factor in my life has been alleviated.  I no longer use tobacco products in any form.  My relationship with food has changed dramatically; I no longer use food to mask my feelings and now eat only for nourishment.  Most importantly, I am just so much more positive now and no longer feel so prone to negative thoughts.

Thank you for all your kind words; its a nice feeling to be told that I have a nice starting point.  You really made my day.  :)

Tiff!  You made a great day even better love!!!!!  We are in the same boat; it seems like living in a male dominated society forces us to build some walls around our true selves that take some time to be fully torn down.  My sister told me last night that before I came out to her, she always considered me 'metrosexual' by default, so the trans thing wasn't really a huge surprise to her.  I guess I never really thought that my sisters saw me like that, but it just kind of verifies what I feel on the inside; so, I have started to tear the walls down and let the real me show to the world.  People have really been jiving on my boosted confidence and happy moods; the upward spiral is indeed real!!!

Therapy is so good.  Some areas require certain amount of therapy for HRT, but even after you start hormones you need to have someone to talk to about the emotional changes you might encounter.

Estrogen made my brain feel normal (really ditsy for a couple weeks, but great since).  I do get hormonal occasionally, but that just makes me feel like I am just one of the girls.

Good luck.

God... Jim Carey... ewe!

Mind you, some of his serious roles have been really good!

I have heard lots of positive things about therapy and I do think that it is something that I will look into.  Again, my state is informed consent and we have clinic in Chicago that specializes in our unique situation so all we really need to do is demonstrate that we are capable of making and understanding the consequences of our decisions to begin reciving HRT.  But, personally, I like the idea of therapy because there are some things that I would like to discuss.  Its an exciting and scary time.

Yeah, Jim Carey.  I do agree with you about his dramatic roles, but I never, ever wanted his hair!!!!  ;)

You gals are the best.  This is the sense of community that I desperately needed.

I am very confused by your pictures. I look at you profile and I see the age of 31. I then look at your pictures and I see the face of 8 or 9 year old child with rounded cheeks and a nice narrow jaw line. If the age is correct, I see many years of looking like a young woman as long as you are careful about sun exposure as your weak point will be sun damaged skin. It hard to tell if you will pass from the picture but that face has much potential. And if you get the age look right, purple hair might be a requirement.

Dena you just.... you... I wish I could hug you right now!!!!!!!!   Its weird that you say 8 or 9 because I am always being told that I have a 'little boy' face by like everyone I meet!!  UV damage prevention has always been a priority of mine and that could be why my skin is in such great shape.  You inspire me to push forward with your kind words; I know passability is based on so much more than looks, but sometimes its just nice to have those validated, ya know?  :)  I wish I could show you my walk; my fiance told me that I had "a sassy walk" hehehe....

Ah, purple hair... requirement??  Sign me up.  I love bright and bold colors, especially when they are adorning my body.

Thank you for the kindness you are showing me.  I always knew the world was a good place, and every day I am a member of this forum proves that to me even more.
