Things I've learned about myself

The last few years have been an incredible journey for me.  Not simply the start of my transition and getting on hormones ... there are some other issues as well:

My therapist has been incredible ... she has worked with me through many issues, but a couple of specific things have made many issues from my past make sense.

About a year ago I was assessed and found out I have ADHD.  I have always sort of suspected this, but once we discussed the specifics of the disorder so much of my troubles I had in school and staying focussed at work suddenly made so much sense.

A few months ago she figure out I have dyslexia.  It is not severe, but when I read small print or long texts the letters and words start to move around the page and my brain just stops decoding any form of print after a while.

I have not used these issues as excuses ... in fact, I have worked my way into a management position and a job that requires many abilities that some assume people with either ADHD or dyslexia don't have.

Understanding what is going on in my head has made it easier for me to find ways to improve many issues in the way I work.

Anybody else deal with disabilities?

I'm glad you've been able to work things out! :)

Thanks  :)

I'm hoping that maybe others who deal with ADHD or other issues will know there are others who have similar issues.  My story is not horribly spectacular.  Learning to be open about things has helped me tremendously.
