Anyone come out to Indian/Asian immigrant Parents?

Have any of you girls come out to your parents who are Indian/Asian immigrant parents?

How did that go?

I feel like if I came out to my parents they would not take it well. I think that they love me, but they probably might say things along the line oft how it is against our religion (hinduism), or how they did not work their butts off to come here just so that I can be a sexual deviant.

I'm not really Indian (nationality) but part of the diaspora as my heritage is Indian. Dad stopped talking to me. Mom is fine with me. Dad is more traditional/Hindu than my mom who is Christian.

I think my parents might react the same way. How do you deal with it? Do you support yourself?
What do you think I should do if I am dependent on them?

With my dad it's a waiting game. I'm just sitting it out with him until he comes back. I'm like 70% sure he will start talking to me some day. It's a real tragedy if he doesn't because I'm his daughter after all, whether or not he wants to admit it.

My mom is very supportive and affirming and is accompanying me for voice surgery in Korea and will accompany me for GRS whenever I have that. So that is a huge plus.

Otherwise I've pretty much always been a loner, and extremely independent. I'm successful and have my own career and home (either my own apartment or a house) so I'm not dependent on anyone.

If you're dependent on them I would wait to come out until you can become independent or have a backup plan.

I guess the question I would ask is if they are traditional or more open. How do they react to Indian trans people in the media like Gazal Dhaliwal?
