Well, I'm new here and don't have a lot of input about a lot of subjects. But I do a lot of weight lifting and weight lift with other women. I'm still male presented and rather in shape. As I haven't even seen my therapist yet. In general, when women lift weights, due to the hormones they possess, they won't build muscle the same way as those with increased testosterone.

I'm in the same position as you build wise I think, 5'6 140. I expect, if I were to go hrt, weight will shift appropriately and if you continued your muscles building, it would even out. Where the fat will end up depositing and the muscle building around it that is.

I feel as tho if I were to be able to transition to look like the person I feel, the gym will help appropriate the desired look.

Pictures have to be uploaded to 3 party site  and then add the link to to the post by pressing the image option. As far as for you avatar you must have 15 posts before you can upload an avatar. I hope that helps

Welcome Jamie,

No one can honestly answer your question about results and a favorite expression around here is; "your mileage will vary"  This recognizes that diverse experiences and individual responses result from HRT.  I would hope your crystal ball gazing would also include the psychological experience that, for many, is even more significant.
Congratulations for coming out to your wife and others.

Like Tessa said you can never tell what is going to happen for whom. But I will let you know that I am a bit taller than you but also had a fairly muscular build pre hrt. As of today, about two months in, I have lost some extra bulk all over my upper body. Mostly noticeable by clothing fitting better. But I did loose an inch off my neck over the last couple weeks. Also, my hips, but and thighs have added some fat. It is a slow process and I am enjoying watching it happen.

Anyway, welcome to Susan's, congrats on coming out. That is one of the harfest steps, after self acceptance. Its good that you have some folks in your corner, that will help.

You're going to lose some lbs with HRT reducing your muscle mass. Just try to be as healthy as you can, and find ways to minimize damage to your liver and heart.
HRT takes a lot of time, although you are starting early. Your hips most likely will stay the same although you'll develop padding over time. Breast-growth can take anywhere from 4-10 years to get to Tanner 4, 5 if you're lucky. With the loss of muscle mass, your joints will likely become less taught, and your shoulders and hips my rotate somewhat to compensate for the redistribution of weight. Skin softening, elevated adipose tissue in your face and thinning of the body hair are all the other things you can look forward to as well.
I started at 29, and HRT has done a lot for me, but I like carbs a lot more than you I'm guessing. I ended up electing to do some FFS, as I didn't start soon enough to avoid some of the masculinization I went through in my 20s. Good luck.

Welcome!!

Definitely check out the section on photos and uploading, as I had some trouble with this too when I first joined.

You have a nice bone structure that, in my personal opinion, will femme up really nicely; I would probably dial back doing upper-body stuff at the gym for the time being, as you don't want to be too bulky.  Currently dealing with this same issue myself.

You're nice and skinny though so you wont have to worry about losing belly fat on HRT, so that is a definite plus!

See you around the site!!

Jamie, I'm about the same body size/shape as you.  I'm 5'6" and currently 140lbs.  I tried some weightlifting last year, and came down with something that required me needing massive amount of IV steroids.  Together, those bumped me up to a max of 165lbs at one point!  Yikes!  Mostly fat, and in my face/belly/butt region.  Now that I've lost the weight, I can tell my arms look slimmer, my face has thinned out again, I can fit in my old pants and need a belt with another smaller hole on it!  My butt is also disappearing!  :(

But anyways, we're built pretty similar, same looking shoulders and collarbones even.  I wear a 38-Short jacket size.  Oh, and I'm 33.  I think HRT will do great things for us, we'll get all smooth and soft looking around the edges like other girls, but I don't think we can afford to lose any more weight!  I plan to be about 150 after being on HRT.  I also plan to hit the gym to maximize my glutes, quads and hammys.  I want to be a fit-femme-fatale with a booty that goes rawr!  No idea when I'll be starting HRT though, maybe soon, maybe not.
