ftm- cant wait 3 years!

So just got a letter threw the post from Leeds GIC and they are saying they are full for 2015/2016 and there is about a 3 year waiting list. I mean I'm happy I've got my foot in the door but is there anything else I can do so I'm not waiting for 3 years to get see sombody. Is there a way I can speed up the process? I feel like I'm at a lost. I was expecting like 1 - 2 years wait at the most! Seems so far away. Can anybody help me on what to do know. I still have to change my name. Im living as full time male in public. I have a girlfriend who I've been with 4 years. All I want is my breasts off and male hormones.

So sorry to hear that there is such a long wait. Is there another clinic you can go to or do you have to go to the most local one. Big hugs

That was pretty kind of them to let you know the facts, but reading between the lines it says "we're obligated to help you, but in reality, we can't.".

Remember the NHS policy is you must be seen within 18 weeks (right?).  You are completely free to demand a referral to a different GIC.  The waiting times at other GICs are available at:

So I would pick a different GIC and take your letter back to your GP, asking for a new referral.  That's what I did when I was originally referred to London (which had a 1 year waiting time), and I was seen at my new GIC choice within 2 months.
