Just been reading about the inevitable problems that are occurring for some on Tindr and it makes me ponder why no one has yet produced a decent dating site and App for transpeople.

Many of us find love and companionship within our own community, and personally I dont see anything wrong with that. Nor indeed do I have a problem with dating cis people who have clearly indicated by their presence that they are cool with my trans childhood and history.

I know there are sites - but in most cases they seem to be a bit seedy and too focussed on sex - when what I am wanting is something aimed ONLY at genuine people seeking long term relationships.

As it happened my last relationship, which started when I was several years postop was with another MtF (I had always assumed that I would probably settle with an FtM because I like guys but really wanted one who would get where I had come from) but either way it lasted for 25 wonderful years until she sadly died.

We lived in a beautiful home with our own swimming pool, and all the luxuries, and even fostered children.

So come on Guys & Girls there must be people out there with the knowhow to build an app and a site. Why hasn't this happened already?

Why is this difficult, let me count the ways...

1) It would be almost impossible to avoid having it devolve into a "I'm hot of ->-bleeped-<- sex" site.

2) Many of us would prefer to not out ourselves on the internet.

3) It would attract people who only want to abuse members of our community, who are frequently a rather fragile bunch.

4) If you try to control for 1 and 3 above, someone would accuse you of trying to decide who was and wasn't truly trans.

5) The most important reason, for a developer, we're such a small population that the business model wouldn't work.

All of that said, I think we do need that service, but it would work better as an addition to an existing, more general site. We have the same variations in sexuality that the rest of the population has, gay, lesbian, bi, asexual, and so many more. Give me, (well, not me, I'm happily married,) the ability to filter based on that and openness to trans inclusive relationships and I've got what I need. The last thing we need at this stage is to isolate ourselves. Inclusion's our goal, right?
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

I use okcupid, I think the best bet is a mainstream site that accommodates transgender identities.  Having said that, I met my lover on craigslist.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Fluttershy. Not all of us are heterosexual. Still, I get your point.

I agree with fluttershy and dee.. i dont think we should isolate ourselfs with a one source site. But i do think that dating sites need to be safer full stop..
