The only way to avoid people judging you is to run off and start a new life. Because I was forced to take a new job at transition, I wasn't judged at work but family did and I needed to win them over. For the most part if people understand what you are going through they don't call you names. I have found people to be pretty good to me even when I wasn't passing. As for the roommate, if your work is for the federal government, they will make accommodations. Many private companies will as well if you are a hard worker and you approach them correctly. All of us had fears about the transition process but very few happened to us. By the way, a nightie or oversized T shirt with optional panties is far more comfortable. After a full day of wearing a bra, you are ready to sing Born Free.
