Been a long time lurker and first time poster - hi all!

I'm a natural born girl / woman - and unfortunately I look a lot like my Dad! (not saying my mum has very feminine features as well).

Only in the last few years (late 20s / early 30s) my facial features started...changing into more masculine traits. Nose seems to be larger, eyes smaller, jaw wider, more oily skin (I have PCOS and currently taking melodene and 50mg Androcur to manage it - mostly for hair loss/ thinning).

I'm from South Africa - Indian...and at a loss where to start to feminise my face. I feel that if I go to a surgeon who specialises in FFS (rather than normal standard plastic surgery) I will get better results.

Please can someone, anyone! help me about where to start looking for a doctor who will can manage Indian features (thick skin etc) and how to start funding (I'm going to read this thread now now for funding - https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,191397.0.html ).

Hope to hear from anyone soon :)

Welcome to Susan's place. Sometimes it only takes plastic surgery. In my case because it was so long ago I just needed a nose job and a hair cut to make my face passable. Without a picture we don't have much of an idea what you need to have done and often when one looks at their own face, they find issues that aren't a problem for others. Are you looking for a surgeon in your country or are you willing to travel? If you are looking at plastic surgeons consider a Reconstructive plastic surgeon because they have the skill to reassemble a damaged face. Without the word Reconstructive, their skills may not be up to the standards you need.

Keep in mind,  the  good FFS surgeons started out as good plastic surgeons - - who then also later learned how to do the necessary bone work to transform a masculine face to a feminine face.  That normally means they spent the time and effort to complete a formal fellowship in craniofacial surgery.  There are not many of those,  but one of those plastic surgeons who is also trained as a craniofacial surgeon may be what you really need.

Most facial plastic surgeons deal with purely soft tissue issues of females and to a much lower level, some men.   But they do not typically have the experience in specifically addressing the transformation of "masculine" features.   Other than to sometimes try to enhance them in men.

Thank you so much Dena and myfairlady49 for your replies - really appreciate it.

I realised from my first post I was all over the place with regards to what plastic surgery will be necessary to feminise my face. Just from previous google searches, I noticed MTF FFS had the best results (the girls are way more feminine than me :) and hence I decided to settle for a FFS Plastic Surgeon. In South Africa - plastic surgery usually revolves around the usual boob job, liposuction and standard rhinoplasty (and they do not like working on Indians / thick skin patients) etc. Only one doctor specifically specialises in gender reassignment surgery (but not so much FFS) and the other doctor 'sort of' works with FFS (without specifically mentioning FFS on his web page) - unfortunately, when I went to see the latter - he rushed my consultation and seemed 'trigger happy' to give me a 'scooped nose' and did not discuss the complication of chin shaving etc - he showed me a computerised image of my face being shorter and he was happy with it - I was horrified. I could see my jaw needed to be adjusted as well and he did not take that into consideration. When I mentioned it to him - he said I don't need to adjust my jaw (either because he can't do it or he really thought I didn't need it - but my money is on the former judgement :)

Other specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeons etc I guess only work with truely required medical cases here in South Africa (accident victims, birth defects etc) and I want a surgeon who will put the whole puzzle together - and not just concentrate on one aspect on my face.

I'm taking a chance here - hope I'm not breaking any admin rules here - pictures of myself are posted on realself -
http://www.realself.com/question/south-africa-za-nose-job-eye-job-chin-job  (can't seem to insert images here?)

I was tempted to go to South Korea for surgery - but from another google review search, those transformations are fake / photo shopped big time. From Susans.org - I am considering going to Doctor Rossi in Argentina. Money is a problem. Considering cashing out my pension and going by myself :( (my family and friends do not support me with my quest for plastic surgery - yet they are the ones constantly picking on my looks - mother, older sister and boyfriend are my worst critics - felt very suicidal about the comments they made about me to my face. So now when I am trying to do something about it - they don't want me to - urg, double standards :)).

I don't have anyone else to talk to so I really apologise for rambling on and on. I don't have a lot of money so trying to find a surgeon who will help me in one go.

Anymore thoughts, advice, experience and guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Your face is for the most part feminine but I also see the issues you are concerned about. The jaw could use a weaker look but I am not sure how much you nose could be altered and still match your face. You should stay way from anyone who wants to make massive changes to you face because what it needs is fine tuning. As for the doctors, others on the form will be more helpful that me because my last plastic surgery was in 1979 and like you I am learning all about FFS surgery here.
