Hiya! I'm Ash, age 19, from the UK. I'm into Doctor Who, anime, other nerdy shows, cosplay, scuba diving, and playing the saxophone  :) I apologise in advance for the lengthy exposition/ my life story  :D
My sex is male, and I consider myself questioning genderfluid/ MTF transsexual. As a very young child I always used to engage in the activities of both genders, female more than male most of the time (I often engaged in activities with male children at Primary School to avoid bullying, but hated it), but then started mainly partaking in gender neutral activities going into Secondary School. It was around the age of 11 when I first started questioning my gender and sexuality, and came to terms with the fact I only liked guys, and that I was way more feminine than masculine, and that I hated everything masculine about my body.

I had to downplay these aspects of myself through Secondary School due to fear of persecution from my environment (I live in the most bigoted/ phobic part of the country; there's only ever been one LGBT+ guy on schools in the area, and he was bullied to the point of near-suicide  :( (although I realize many other people have it far worse)), and unfortunately during that time, puberty took it's toll  :'( Around the age of 16 I fully came to terms with my gender identity, as being feminine almost to the point of being an MTF transsexual person, but being unsure of whether I wanted to fully transition or not, but wanting to change my body to make it as feminine as possible.

I have now done a year of university, and am now at the point where I have decided I would like to transition to a more feminine gender role, and also to feminise my body (I think I can live without sex-reassignment surgery, but I would like to take hormones to change my secondary sex characteristics, and maybe have hair-removal procedures and FFS). [Side Note: I am, however, not 100% sure of the process of being perscribed/ obtaining hormones, so if people could point me in the right direction, I'd be eternally grateful  :D )

Sorry for the long-winded story, and I look forward to chatting with you all, making friends and contributing to this website and the trans/ LQBTQI+ community!  :-*

Hi Ash,

Welcome to Susan's, good to see you here..

I also hailed from the UK prior to 1987... But like you I found Gender neutral activities going through schools due to jibing and bullying, was always called names at school, harder in Secondary school as it was a boys only... I learnt quick to pretend to be Male... anyway

Good luck with your journey, best to start with a Gender Therapist/Counsellor.

Look forward to seeing you around...

Hey, there!  Congratulations on making the big leap and becoming part of the Susan's Family.  I once was a noob too and that was how I introduced myself when I joined.  See my post #1 for proof and amusement's sake:

https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,121180.msg943372.html#msg943372

That was over three years ago now!  After all that time I was just coming up on 1000 posts so I figured I'd time it right and give you the 'honour' (such as it may be) of welcoming you with my extra-special, once-in-a-lifetime, 1000TH POST!  :icon_dance:  Let's celebrate grand accomplishments together!  Now that you've started, here's hoping you'll stick around for the fun long-enough to hit 1000 posts yourself.

I started out with a dream and now I've virtually finished transition and found my happy-place.  Just imagine where you might be after three years or 1000 posts.  All the best to you on your journey!
