Tips for preparing for HRT?

Right now I'm really hoping that within a few months I'll go on HRT around September or October. And just wondering if there is really anything I should start doing to make it easier? I'm in pretty good shape right now standing at 6'2 and about 167lbs trying to lose about another ten pounds to get rid of whats left of tummy fat. I've cut out almost all processed foods and have switched to fruits and veggies for most meals. Haven't been drinking any surgery drinks or alcohol either. And absolutely no fast food at all.

I know that pretty soon I should start getting a lot more calcium since the bones become weaker. Also keep up my muscle mass which isn't a problem. Is there anything else I should look into doing?

Thank you,
Lady  R

Well, it is never too late to start laser and electrolysis on your face, if you have not already started. I wish I started sooner.

Oh I wish I could do laser or electrolysis right now however money is kind of tight. Hopefully once the doctor visits are out of the way I'll have some extra money.

Hey RavenL :)

HRT for me was the most exciting step of the whole process! Congratulations that you've gotten this far! :)

I have to be honest, you've done a lot more than I ever did to prepare, I could never have stuck to a diet of any sort with my high appetite and metabolism. I personally haven't had any issues with bone strength at 5'7" and I took up gymnastics again about 1 year after starting HRT but your mileage may vary. Are you into sport or something? Otherwise, I wouldn't think trying to maintain your muscle mass would've been desirable but hey, you probably have your reasons.

One thing that's sure to be important is not to set yourself up psychologically to expect massive changes. Oh, they will happen but it will be slow and often below what you would absolutely like! I've been lucky as small breast development suits my athletic figure but I definitely have been struggling to get what I would've liked.

When I first started, I was watching very closely every single day for change to happen. Yeah, I got painful boob growth within a week or two, but it took 2-3 months to start to notice any change. YMMV of course. The only really quick changes are things like strength, skin tone and oiliness, and the beginnings of hip fat. However, don't get caught in the trap that I did of trying to get a flat belly! It's not physically possible! And girls actually have tummy fat, it's just kinda resting slightly lower down where your uterus would normally be.

Otherwise, best of luck to you! The psychological effects are probably the most exciting.
Much love

Thank you!

I have to admit trying to eat healthy has been really hard. I did cheat and get some fast food last week along with a soda. But a couple hours later I felt sick and the next day I felt really off. So that's really killed any desire for unhealthy food. As for the muscle mass not doing any jobs but my current job is a lot of lifting so its going to stay. But I'm already starting to cut back since my position doesn't really require me to all the time. However I might be leaving soon anyway.

As for the changes I've been reading up a lot so I know I'm not changing over night and I'm ok with that. I'm both dreading and looking forward to the breast growth since it can be painful. Really just looking forward to the psychological effects more then anything. Just being a lot more calm and relaxed.

Thanks,
Lady R

The calm and quiet is defining at first. Then at some point it became my new normal and I am that way all the time.

Sorry to jump in here with a question of my own (which has prolly been asked before)
But will wearing a sports bra, to avoid hitting the sensitive nipples on things, be bad thing to do during that development?
  •

Nicole

sport bras are fine, as long as you're not wearing one most of the time.

If you want to lose that bully fat, sit ups, yoga and running.

Get yourself a fitness band, on your phone download "My Fitness Pal" and start recording your food, calories and exercise.

You need to burning more than you are inputting.

Its not hard once you get into  a habit of it.

Start hair removal today, you can get some cheap deals if you look hard enough
Yes! I'm single
And you'll have to be pretty f'ing amazing to change that

My tips on looking back.

Start laser yesterday!

Keep to a healthy diet.

Cut down on alcohol

Excercise

Keep a journal.

Be positive.

You will hit the wall a thousand times and stress like crazy that you can't do this.

Be positive, you can.

Most of all?

Enjoy, relax and keep going.

Preferably a padded one!!

New boobs have an attraction for inanimate and animate objects.

My tips on looking back.

Start laser yesterday! Going to start looking around for some deals. I put in the beginning post that money is kind of tight. But it looks like I'll be getting promoted at work which will give me some extra play money!

Keep to a healthy diet. Working on that really hard right now.

Cut down on alcohol Close to two months free now!

Excercise I'm walking about three to four miles a day at my job

Keep a journal. Really need to get into the habit already have a nice journal.

Be positive.

Be positive, you can. Really working on it now. Had kind of a rough patch for a week but I'm doing a lot better.

Most of all?

Enjoy, relax and keep going.

Thanks Cindy!

Raven you are already a rock star with the commitments and learning you have in the bag.  Good for your Girl!

One thing I tended to forget was to stay well hydrated.   With spiro I got kind of light headed a couple of times and thought it was just my usual dizzy self ;) ;D  I was also so ready and anxious while the changes were subtle and slow.  I teased myself here about why I didn't see any changes in the first 24 hours!!
