First Beard Clearing complete - electrolysis

My first beard clearing is complete. I was on an aggressive schedule and i was able to complete it in 4 weeks. I met with the electrologist 3 times per week for 2-3 hours each session. Luckily for me I found someone who is quite experienced and worked from their home which ultimately kept the cost down. Her facilities are in a separate part of her house and quite sanitary. Anyway, now the schedule is to meet once a week for one month in two hour sessions, then very two weeks for two months in one hour sessions and after that re-evaluate. I can not wait to have the beard 100% GONE and no more beard shadow.

Wow.  I cannot even imagine that, even if it were free.  I go to a trans-experienced electrologist, but my skin is very, very sensitive.  Even one-hour sessions leave me red and swollen.  Ice packs and cortisone help, but it still takes a day or two for the swelling and redness to go down.  Blended electrolysis has been less painful, but the most I can do is about 1.5 hours each session.  You must have an incredible pain tolerance.  Then again, my electrologist said she has had clients that have fallen asleep during sessions!  Oh Lord, I wish that could be me!  Even if that were the case, I still could not afford the schedule you were on.  That would have cost me $1000/week at the rates I pay.

I am in the same boat! I can handle one hour sessions, barely, and am looking a long route to clear face. I wish I could handle more.

I got it cleared yesterday.  It's so nice with nothing left to shave.

The feared weird beard has been cleared!  Woohoo!!!

Remember to try ice to cool area down just seconds before the pins put in.  That and a good numbing agent work great for me.

I don't think I have an incredible pain tolerance but my numbing cream works rather well. Trust me it hurt like hell...  towards the end of the each session I have had tears rolling down my eyes. The upper lip was the worst - but I made it through it. I want to be done with it and to move on. I guess you can say I am motivated. Plus the cost makes it doable. It is within the budget to go as fast as I have been. But I am glad I can slow down because I was starting to dread the sessions. I figure this is a test for what is to come.

I also consider this as a right of passage. This is something my sisters and I have been through. It makes me feel good in a twisted way - something in common I suppose.

That is incredibly fast!  I've been going two hours a week for about a year on the blond and gray hairs, plus laser sessions for the dark hairs.  Yesterday, for the first time, my electrologist spent the last 20 minutes of the session looking for remaining hairs to clear.  It was a wonderful feeling!

Then again, my electrologist said she has had clients that have fallen asleep during sessions!  Oh Lord, I wish that could be me! 

That HAS been me for the last two sessions.  Up until this past month I had a very hard time with the pain after the first hour of a session.  My electrologist has been working with trans women for 20 years and I was up there as one of her worst clients for pain tolerance.  So hopefully your pain will decrease as your facial hair thins out.

Kim - But you made it and that is all that counts. For me I chalk it up to the numbing cream. I followed the directions and started the numbing process one hour before the session. Put it on real thick, place plastic wrap over the area and so forth. During the sessions additional cream was applied - I went through quite a bit. If it was not for that I don't think I would have made it. I doubt I would pass a drug test at this point.

Just finished another two hours. Got the upper and lower lip area and the front of the chin. I can see the finish line.
